The fantastic Christina Ricci has signed on for "Born to Be a Star," the porn-inspired comedy that Adam Sandler co-wrote, and will co-produce. Tom Brady ("The Hot Chick") will direct.
Ricci will play the innocent girlfriend of a "small-town nerd who stumbles upon a family secret: His quiet and demure parents were famous porn stars in the 1970s. This motivates him to leave Northern Iowa for Hollywood, hoping to follow in their footsteps and fulfill his destiny as the biggest adult-film star in the world." (The Hollywood Reporter)
No word yet on whether Sandler is going to star as well, but it's nice to see Ricci in a comedy again.

Director Mike Newell, the guy who gave us "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and the soon-to-be released "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" is set to direct The Box of Delights" based on John Masefield's 1930's children novel!
It's about a magical box that allows our hero to travel through time.
Aw, I want a box like that
Newell tells Variety:
"I first heard 'Box of Delights' as a radio play on the BBC when I was a boy in a freezing, mostly dark-brown England where the radio sets were huge and the whole country seemed to be lit with a single 40 Watt bulb," said Newell. "I was immediately seduced by the tingling, opening harp music and the fantastical, mysterious, magic story that followed."
Just to get you excited, take a look at the opening animation of the 1980s BBC production of "The Box of Delights."

The book "Twelve" is getting a big-screen treatment from director Joel Schumacher. Chace Crawford, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Ellen Barkin and Kiefer Sutherland are set to star!
Based on the 2002 book by Nick McDonell, "Twelve" is about teenage drug use set in New York's Upper East Side.
"Twelve is a novel by Nick McDonell about drug addiction, violence and sex among mainly wealthy Manhattan teenagers. The title refers to a new designer drug which the protagonist of the novel, White Mike, sells. The drug is referred to as a cross between cocaine and ecstasy."
Hhmmm, interesting! Jordan Melamed ("Manic") wrote the screenplay.
Production will begin April 20 in New York.

Remember the movie "Ice Castles?" The 1978 tearjerker starring Robbie Benson? The ballad by Melissa Manchester called "Looking Through the Eyes of Love" was even nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.
The story? A young girl's dream of becoming a world-class figure skater is dashed after a tragic accident. But after much drama, crying, and spinning around, redemption occurs, the end.
Donald Wrye, the director of the original, is working on the remake. Figure skater Taylor Firth will headline the new film. Rob Mayes, Henry Czerny and figure skater Molly Oberstar will co-star. Michelle Kwan will appear in a cameo.
The film is being shot right now at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
If you want some good-old nostalgic piece, take a look at the video below featuring Manchester's soaring ballad, and FYI, I used to sing this song when I was a child
