Will "Kick-Ass" Sequel Kicks Its Way to Theaters Near You? Soon?

First, the good news -- Universal is in talks with writer/director Matthew Vaughn to make and distribute "Kick-Ass 2" according to The Hollywood Reporter. I totally dug the original film based on the Mark Millar-John Romita Jr. mini-series directed by Vaughn and starring Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Mark Strong, Nicolas Cage, and the ever so memorable, Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl. The first film was produced and distributed by Lionsgate and now, Universal wants some of that "Kick-Ass" mojo!

Now, here's the bad news -- Vaughn is only producing the sequel. Awwww...

The director has a great eye for drama and action (witness his last film, "X-Men: First Class," heck I even enjoyed "Stardust," and of course, "Layer Cake") so it saddens me to report that Vaughn is giving the directing reins to Jeff Wadlow, the guy who gave us "Never Back Down." I know, right?

But Vaughn wrote the script, at least, and it's a hodge podge of the current comic mini-series and its spin-off "Hit Girl." According to THR, the Hit Girl" storyline will be the first act of the movie.

So that's the better news -- more Hit Girl! Yay!

Another Duh! "the Avengers 2" Coming to Theaters Near You!

We all know this one's coming, but Disney CEO Bob Iger has made it official -- "The Avengers 2" is flying to theaters near you very soon!

"The Avengers," written and directed by Joss Whedon, has crossed the $700 million mark in less than two weeks! There's a strong appetite for the film (heck there's a strong appetite for any superhero movie it seems, oh, sorry "Ghost Rider" you're not super-heroey enough!) so it's really a no-brainer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iger said "Iron Man 3" and "Thor 2" are scheduled for 2013 and "Captain America 2" will be ready for 2014. But, there's no timeline set for "The Avengers 2."

Oh, and if you want more "Avengers," wait for it to appear at your nearest Disney theme park!

But the big question for "The Avengers 2" is this -- will Whedon return to write and direct? Because after all, he's the real hero behind this movie!

Watch "Argo" Official Trailer -- Ben Affleck's Iran Hostage Crisis Thriller
Ben Affleck, from what we've seen so far, is a good director and storyteller. We enjoyed "Gone Baby Gone" and the explosive "The Town," and now, Affleck is examining the Iran hostage crisis through "Argo."

Warner Bros. is distributing the film starring Affleck, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, Taylor Schilling, and Scoot McNairy. I can't wait!
