16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations

Nominees for the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) for both film and television categories were announced this morning. Michelle Monaghan and Chris O'Donnell announced the nominees at the Pacific Design Center's Silver Screen Theater in West Hollywood.

The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT, and 6 p.m. MT from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. Recipients of the stunt ensemble honors will be announced from the SAG Awards red carpet during the TNT.TV and TBS.COM live pre-show webcasts.

If you want to predict the acting categories for the Oscars, look no further than the results of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Voted by actors' peers, the SAG award has closely resembled the winners of the Oscars in the past few years.

For example, the SAG award for best ensemble cast has matched the Oscar winner for Best Picture in seven of the last 14 years; The best actor winner has matched the Oscar winner in 11 of the last 15 years, and the best actress winner has matched the Oscar in 10 of 15 years.

The lovely Betty White is receiving the Screen Actors Guild Awards 46th Annual Life Achievement Award.

Check Out New "Iron Man 2" Trailer!
It's quite exciting! It seems like Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is back in his jolly but egotistical ways. I love seeing Mickey Rourke as the new baddie, and Scarlett Johansson as the mysterious Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow.

Oh yeah, the now-famous metal music technique used in the first "Iron Man" trailer is back!

Take a look at the new "Iron Man 2" trailer:

"Thor's" Mommy Found!

Rene Russo is set to play Frigga, Thor's mommy, in the upcoming film "Thor." She's the Queen of Asgard and wife of Norse god Odin (Anthony Hopkins). She's also the mother of Thor and Loki (the villain to be played by Tom Hiddleston).

Kenneth Branagh is directing from a script co-written by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz. Production is set to start shooting in January. Chris Hemsworth will play our hammer-wielding hero, Thor, and Natalie Portman will star as his love interest, Jane Foster.

Paramount is releasing the film on May 20, 2011.
