"Legend of the Guardians: The Ows of Ga'Hoole" Movie Review! It's a Hoot!

When I first heard that Zack Snyder was attached to direct the animated flick “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole,” I welcomed the news with trepidation. How can the director of the R-rated “300” and “Watchmen” transition to PG-rating animated adventure territory? And it’s about owls of all things! But fear not Snyder fans, the director brings his action sensibilities to the whimsical tale of an owl who dreams.

Based on the first three books of the fifteen-book series Guardians of Ga’Hoole by Kathryn Lasky, the film follows the tale of Soren (voiced by Jim Sturgess), a young owl who loves listening to his father’s epic stories of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole. According to his dad, the Guardians are a mythic band of winged warriors who fought the evil Pure Ones to save all of owlkind. Read More...

"Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" Movie Review! How Many Kisses Do Oliver Stone, Shia LaBeouf, and Michael Douglas Deserve?

In the original “Wall Street,” Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) uttered the immortal line, “greed, for the lack of a better word, is good.” In the new sequel “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” Gekko asserts that greed is no longer just good, it’s legal and can potentially doom the U.S. economy.

Gekko prophesizes the economy’s impending doom and gloom prior to the market crashing in 2008. The sequel follows the real-life timeline of when our stocks came crashing down. It makes for a good and timely movie. Read More...

Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning Join J.J. Abrams' "Super 8"

Paramount has announced that Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning have joined the cast of the super-mysterious "Super 8" from the mind of J.J. Abrams. The film began shooting in West Virginia yesterday.

Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills complete the cast. Back in May, we told you that a teaser for "Super 8" would be shown with "Iron Man 2," and this is what we knew then, and it's still what we know now:

...is a sequel or a prequel to "Cloverfield" and it tells the story of a group of teenagers from the 70s or 80s who are shooting a movie using a Super 8 camera (Did you have one of those, I did, and they're fantastic! And since it's a Super 8 camera, I'll assume that it's a bunch of 70s kids, the 80s kids will have their bulky camcorder). So when the kids get their film developed, they noticed an image of an alien in the film, tan dan dan...

All we know is Abrams wrote the screenplay, and Paramount is gunning for a summer 2011 release. Check out "Super 8's" teaser, doesn't it remind you of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind?" Oh yeah, Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment is attached to the project:

Leslie Mann Joins Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in "The Change Up"

Remember those body-swapping films from the 80s? "Like Father Like Son," "Switch," "Big." Well, the body-swapping genre is apparently alive and well, and Universal is teaming Ryan Reynolds with Jason Bateman for the comedy "The Change" from director David Dobkin. Leslie Mann is joining the pair in the lead female role.

I can see many formulas littering our big-screen when this film opens. But the script is written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the guys who gave us one of the funniest films ever made, "The Hangover." So there may be hope.

The plot revolves around a family man who accidentally switches bodies with his best friend, a slacker actor. And then redemption follows, the end. Didn't Mann just star in the recent body-swap film "17 Again?" She must really, really love the genre!

Rachel Weisz to have Sex, Sex, and More Sex in "360"

Rachel Weisz returns to the loving arms of director Fernando Meirelles, the guy who made her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar-winner for "Constant Gardener." According to Deadline, the psycho-sexual drama is going to be called "360" inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s play "Reigen" (or "La Ronde").

The script is adapted for the screen by Peter Morgan ("The Queen," "Frost/Nixon") and is all about sex, sex, sex! It's like a musical chair centered on sexual liaisons. One couple is featured before or after sex, then one character from each is shown with another partner, then another, and then another, until it comes full circle. Wow!

It's promiscuity at its finest! So what the heck is the plot? If you wiki "Reigen," here's what you'll get:

The play is set in the 1890s in Vienna. Its dramatic structure consists of ten interlocking scenes between pairs of lovers. Each of its ten characters appears in two consecutive scenes (with one from the final scene, The Whore, having appeared in the first).

Scenes:

The Whore and the Soldier
The Soldier and the Parlor Maid
The Parlor Maid and the Young Gentleman
The Young Gentleman and the Young Wife
The Young Wife and The Husband
The Husband and the Little Miss
The Little Miss and the Poet
The Poet and the Actress
The Actress and the Count
The Count and the Whore

Again, what the heck is the plot?
