Well now, the truth can be revealed!
Apparently, George Clooney really wanted to direct "Frost/Nixon" but was snubbed in favor of director Ron Howard (seen in the picture with Clooney).
Screenwriter Peter Morgan ("The Queen") who wrote the film based on his successful stage play revealed that Clooney asked him for the director job.
But Morgan chose Howard instead.
And he may have chosen well (although I adore George Clooney), for "Frost/Nixon" is one of the best films of the year, and the cast headed by Frank Langella and Michael Sheen delivered top notch performances! WATCH FOR MY FULL INTERVIEWS WITH THE CAST AND HOWARD COMING UP RIGHT HERE.
For now, I'll leave you with some anecdotal commentaries from Morgan about Mister Clooney as told to WENN:
"(Clooney) said things like, 'We are really going to kick a** with this!'
"Not going with him was a complete f**king agony because he suggested doing some script work at his house by Lake Como - at which point my wife was just shaking her head.
"I expect I will spend the rest of my life making amends to him - and my wife - and to everybody about my decision. Now I will never have him ringing me again, asking to do my work."
