Filipino Classic Voted Best Asia-Pacific Film of All Time!

"Himala," a film about a faith healer who claims to have seen the Virgin Mary and then proceeds to heal sick people, has been voted the CNN APSA Viewers Choice Award for Best Asia-Pacific Film of All Time, pushing Akira Kurosawa's classic "Seven Samurai" into second place.

This is exciting because I remember loving this movie, and I also was smitten by Nora Aunor, known as the "superstar" in Philippine Cinema, who played Elsa, the miraculous girl.

And it's also historical because "Himala" beat Kurosawa, who's one of the best directors in the history of cinema.

Directed by the late, great Ishmael Bernal and written by Ricky Lee, "Himala" is one of the most thought-provoking films I saw as a child.

You know what's funny? I was just recently hoping that "Himala" will be transferred to DVD so I could show it to my mom, and now, with all these accolades, it could soon happen!

Oh by the way, himala means miracle in Tagalog.

And yes, this is truly a miracle! Yay! :happy

Check out the full article here and when it comes out on DVD, try to watch it -- this is one of the BEST FILMS IN PHILIPPINE CINEMA!!!
