Audiences Say Yes to Jim Carrey's "Yes Man"

"Yes Man" or should we call it, "Liar, Liar Part Deux" reigned on top of the box office even though movie audiences just greeted it with a mere whisper!

The Jim Carrey flick debuted at No. 1 with $18.2 million in ticket sales which wasn't that huge for a Carrey movie.

But more shocking? "Seven Pounds" starring Blockbuster King, Will Smith, opened at No. 2 with just $16 million.

At No. 3? The animated flick "The Tale of Desperaux" sold only $10.5 million.

Why so low with the Top 3 films?

Studios were blaming the storms pounding the Northeast!

And not the fact that the three flicks weren't exactly high-quality entertainment.

"Yes Man" is predictable, saved by Carrey's fun but manic energy. "Seven Pounds" is boring and depressing, and by the time we see the twist in the end, many folks would have left the theaters. And "Desperaux?" Well, it's just one of those feel-good animated flicks that felt rushed for the holidays.

Previous No. 1 film, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" fell to No. 4 with $10.2 million bucks. Sorry Klaatu, I mean, Keanu!

The good news? The Mickey Rourke drama, "The Wrestler," took in $209,474 in just 4 theaters with a whopping average of $52,369 per theater.

That's impressive!
