Zac Efron Reveals Why He's Not Starring in "Footloose" Remake PLUS What I Think About His Upcoming Film "17 Again"

Zac Efron says he dropped out of "Footloose" because of the "unknown." Meaning, the "High School Musical" star wants to take his career into unknown territories to prove his mettle as an actor.

Good for him! He wants to show to the world he's just not a singing and dancing matinee idol.

The 21-year old actor was set to take on the role that made Kevin Bacon a household name, then surprised everyone by dropping out.

At first, it was being blamed for script revisions, but now we know why. Efron reveals to Entertainment Weekly, "I'm sure Footloose would have been a huge challenge, but the actors that I love and the actors that work really hard in this industry are always shaking things up, trying new genres, acquiring new skill sets. That's what's always going to appeal to me: the unknown."

So does that mean that his upcoming film "17 Again" will be one of the last accessible movies that Efron will star in?

I will interview Efron so maybe I'll ask him the question. :happy

Speaking of "17 Again," I just got back from the screening, and let me tell ya, sure, there are hints of "Big" and "Back to the Future," but I laughed out loud and the chemistry of the actors are commendable!

And yes folks, Efron can act, and can go from comedy to drama without missing a beat! Watch this film when it comes out April 17.

I'll post my review and interviews with the cast of "17 Again" soon, promise!
