Rats! New Movie Based on "NIMH" Novel

You may remember the 1982 MGM animated tale "The Secret of NIMH" directed by Don Bluth.

Now, Paramount wants to do a big-screen adaptation of the award-winning "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH."

Director Neil Burger from "The Illusionist" is in negotiations to write the screenplay and possibly direct.

The original film was based on Robert C. O'Brien's "Rats of NIMH" which won the 1972 Newbery Medal and focuses on Mrs. Frisby (renamed Brisby for the film) who must save her family from a farmer's plow.

With the success of "G-Force," more studios are turning to rodents for inspiration, but the "NIMH" series are more serious and don't feature secret agents rats :happy
