Paramount Reunites with "Paranormal Activity" Director for Next Project

As we reported back in October, director Oren Peli's follow-up to the phenomenally successful "Paranormal Activity" is an exploration into the horrors of Area 51.

The film was being approached with caution by Hollywood, but now, we've heard that Paramount Pictures has landed U.S. distribution rights to "Area 51."

Paramount was also the studio behind the director's "Paranormal Activity." Variety told us that as many as four other bidders wanted the film, but in the end, Paramount won.

Peli also wrote "Area 51" which uses the same "found footage" narrative structure the writer-director used in "Paranormal Activity." The film tells the story of three teens whose curiosity leads them to Area 51 in the Nevada desert.

There's no definite date for release yet, but "Area 51" will be abducted in theaters sometime in 2010.
