Hailee Steinfeld Will Sleep for a Long Time in "Sleeping Beauty"

Another day, another fairy tale-inspired Hollywood news. This time, "True Grit's" Hailee Steinfeld is set to star in the new re-imagining of "Sleeping Beauty."

But here's what's interesting with this project -- the film will be told from Princess Aurora's (Steinfeld) point of view. So how will the narrative move forward when the Princess is sleeping you ask? Well that's the intriguing part. While the Princess slumbers into a deep coma waiting for her true love's kiss, she will enter a dangerous dream world (shades of "Sucker Punch" anyone?) and will battle evil forces in order to escape.

The spec script by Lindsay Devlin is now being shopped around every major Hollywood studio. Takers anyone?

But be prepared to be bombarded with an onslaught of fairy tale adventures! There's Disney's "Maleficent" (inspired by "Sleeping Beauty") told from the witch's point of view (we broke this one yay!); "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" where Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton will play the titular roles; "Jack the Giant Killer" from Bryan Singer starring Nicholas Hoult; Channing Tatum as "Peter Pan" in...simply..."Pan"; Sam Raimi rearing to take us back to "Oz: The Great and Powerful" starring James Franco.

But wait, there's more!

Three, count that, three "Snow White" films with actresses such as Julia Roberts, Kristen Stewart, and Charlize Theron attached.

I love Steinfeld and I thought she gave a wonderful performance in "True Grit." And this 14-year old actress is choosing her parts well after the Western hit. She is also attached to the romantic thriller "Forgotten" about a teenage girl who can't remember anything! Why? Because her memory is erased every single night.

Plus, Steinfeld is a fellow Filipino peep of mine. Her maternal grandmother came from my homeland :wink Much love!
