"Real Steel" Beats Everyone for the No. 1 Movie in America Title! 


The underdog boxing family drama, "Real Steel," was the undisputed champ at the weekend box-office! The winning film, starring Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo as a father-son underdog team, debuted at No. 1 with $27.3 million.

But wait there's more! The Disney-release also took in $22.1 million in 19 overseas markets for a worldwide total of $49.4 million!

Meanwhile, "The Ides of March," the political thriller written, directed, and starring George Clooney, opened at No. 2. Co-starring Ryan Gosling as a political aide who learns the dirty tricks of campaigning, "The Ides of March" sold $10.4 million worth of box-office tickets.

Previous weekend's box-office champ, "Dolphin Tale," fell by 37 percent to No. 3 with $9.2 million. That percentage is not that much for a family film, which proves that this dolphin will swim for quite a long time.

At No. 4 is "Moneyball" with $7.5 million. This Brad Pitt-starrer also has some box-office legs. Rounding out the Top 5 is the cancer bromantic dramedy starring Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt with $5.5 million.

Here's the estimated Top 10 list of box-office films for weekend of Oct. 7th:

1. "Real Steel," $27.3 million ($22.1 million international).
2. "The Ides of March," $10.4 million.
3. "Dolphin Tale," $9.2 million.
4. "Moneyball," $7.5 million.
5. "50/50," $5.5 million.
6. "Courageous," $4.6 million.
7. "The Lion King," $4.55 million ($7.3 million international).
8. "Dream House," $4.5 million.
9. "What's Your Number?", $3.1 million.
10. "Abduction," $2.9 million.
