A Green Debut! "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" Scores $70.7 Million Opening!

"Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" earned $70.7 million for the biggest box-office debut of the year so far. The 3D animated flick featuring the voices of Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Betty White, and Danny DeVito easily beat competition! At No. 2 was the raunchy R-rated "Project X." The Warner Bros. comedy sold $20.8 million worth of box-office tickets for the second place.

Previous weekend's box-office champ, the Navy Seals propaganda film, "The Act of Valor," slipped to No. 3 with $13.7 million. So far, the "Call of Duty" primer has made over $45.2 million since it opened two weekends ago.

Meanwhile, silence is definitely golden! The Best Picture of the year, "The Artist," received a 34 percent bump coming in at No. 10 with $3.9 million and grossing over $37 million total.

Here's the estimated Top 10 Box-Office films for weekend of March 2nd:

1. "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax," $70.7 million ($500,000 international).

2. "Project X," $20.8 million ($1.7 million international).

3. "Act of Valor," $13.7 million.

4. "Safe House," $7.2 million ($10.8 million international).

5. "Tyler Perry's Good Deeds," $7 million.

6. "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," $6.9 million ($14.7 million international).

7. "The Vow," $6.1 million ($4.1 million international).


8. "This Means War," $5.6 million ($14.1 million international).

9. "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," $4.7 million ($6 million international).

10. "The Artist," $3.9 million ($5.3 million international).
