"Wreck-It-Ralph" Box-Office Hero

"Wreck-It-Ralph" became the box-office hero and triumphed over Superstorm Sandy.

The Walt Disney Pictures' flick debuted strongly with $49.1 million, claiming the No. 1 spot! Featuring the voices of John C. Reilly and Jane Lynch, the 3-D animated family film provided enough distraction from Superstorm Sandy. ("Wreck-It-Ralph" movie review)

At No. 2 was Robert Zemeckis' "Flight" featuring a strong performance from Denzel Washington. The drama about an excellent pilot battling alcohol and drug abuse soared to a $25 million debut. ("Flight" movie review)

Previous weekend's box-office champ, Ben Affleck's "Argo," fell to No. 3 with $10.2 million. The surefire Oscar contender has sold a total of $75.9 million worth of tickets since it opened four weeks ago.

Another box-office newcomer, "The Man with the Iron Fists," opened with a debut of $8.2 million. Directed by RZA from the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, "The Man with the Iron Fists" debuted at No. 4.

Overseas, the fantastic James Bond movie "Skyfall" continued to annihilate box-office competition. The Sam Mendes-directed flick sold $156 million worth of box-office tickets for a cumulative international total of $287 million, and it hasn't even reached the U.S. shores yet!
