If you were wondering why Aragorn was not a part of "The Hobbit" film, wonder no more. Viggo Mortensen, the actor behind the man who would be king, explains why. And it's pretty simple. Because his character does not appear in the J.R.R. Tolkien novel. Duh to you!
Mortensen told "The Guardian" that before Peter Jackson and company started shooting back in 2008, one of the producers asked him if he would be interested. And he said, "You do know, don't you, that Aragorn isn't in The Hobbit? That there is a 60-year gap between the books?'"
Well, Elijah Wood's Frodo and Cate Blanchett's Galadriel made appearances in "The Hobbit" and their characters were not in the book either! Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen) was, and so the magical wizard is playing a big part in the new trilogy.
Could it be that Mortensen is just tired of playing Aragorn? Maybe?
