"White House Down" Flops! What Happened Channing Tatum?

Yes, folks, "White House Down" flopped at the box-office. Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx were no match for the star power of Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy whose "The Heat" triumphed at No. 2 with a $40 million debut. "White House Down?" $25.7 million and with a reported budget of $150 million, it's a certifiable flop! Worst than "After Earth," "Jack the Giant Slayer," and "The Hangover Part III."

So what happened? Well, first, there was a movie called "Olympus Has Fallen" that shared the same DNA as "White House Down." And actually, I found that movie better than the Tatum-Foxx collaboration. Why? Because it had a singular vision -- the terrorists are bad, but don't worry, Gerard Butler is here to save the day. Its simplicity is what saved the film.

"White House Down" has a lot of angles that people were not able to connect the dots. Is it about White House being attacked? Is it a buddy comedy? Is it a father-daughter dramedy? Is it all of the above? Do you even care?

And lastly, as much as we love Channing Tatum, shirtless or otherwise, he is still NOT a major superstar! And even with the help from Foxx, their collaboration is just not as dynamic as the Bullock-McCarthy tandem. "The Heat" is funny, sure, predictable, but still funny. "White House Down" is sometimes funny, sometimes exciting, sometimes thrilling. But "sometimes" will not generate buzz.

Here's the Top 10 Box-Office Films from last weekend again. I'm sure the one-two punch of "The Lone Ranger" and "Despicable Me 2" will change the order by the weekend. Yes, "White House Down" will be down, way down, by then.
