Author Cormac McCarthy will join writers-directors Joel and Ethan Coen for this honor!

Can this mean that "No Country" will win Best Adapted Screenplay at this year's Oscars? Stay tuned...

KIDMAN QUITS "THE READER," WHO'S REPLACING HER?
As I've reported earlier, Nicole Kidman bowed out of "The Reader" due to pregnancy. She and hubby, Keith Urban, are expecting their baby.

Kidman would have reteamed with her "The Hours" director, Stephen Daldry.

But now, another beloved actress, the first choice to star in the film, is back to replace Kidman.

Who is she? Read More...

SCARLETT JOHANSSON, QUEEN OF SCOTS!

Miss Scarlett is set to star in "Mary Queen of Scots" with Phillip Noyce set to direct.

The production is to begin filming in April.

As you may know, Mary is the nemesis of Queen Elizabeth, lots of drama between those two, which eventually ended with Elizabeth beheading Mary, bloody Mary.

I love period costume dramas based on facts, and scheming queens who'll do anything for power, love, and their countries. Hhhhhmmmm, I know many queens who are like that he-he-he.

THE DIRECTORS GUILD ANNOUNCED THEIR NOMINEES!!!!

Here it is folks, the DGA announced their nominees! And, it's kind of heart-warming to know, there are no nominees from a Hollywood blockbuster film! It's a diverse selection indeed (all the nominees are included in my Top 10 favorite films !)

The DGA honored those directors with their personal visions stamped all over the screen!

Keep in mind that the DGA winner and the Oscar winner for director have matched in 53 of the last 59 years, including last year, when Martin Scorsese won for "The Departed."

The winner will be announced at the DGA Awards dinner and ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on Saturday evening, January 26, 2008.

And the nominees are:

• Paul Thomas Anderson - "There Will Be Blood" (Paramount Vantage)

• Joel Coen & Ethan Coen - "No Country for Old Men" (Miramax ilms and Paramount Vantage)

• Tony Gilroy - "Michael Clayton" (Warner Bros.)

• Sean Penn - "Into the Wild" (Paramount Vantage)

• Julian Schnabel - "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" (Miramax Films)
