Anthony Hopkins to Play Alfred Hitchcock?

From a scary cannibal serial-killer to a much-admired director, Anthony Hopkins may soon take a stab to star as Alfred Hitchcock according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Hopkins is in talks to play the Master of Suspense in the planned film, "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho," based on Stephen Rebello's non-fiction book.

So not only are we going to get a glimpse inside the making of one of Hollywood's most influential movies, we'll also get to know the man behind it all.

And the best part? Sacha Gervasi, the guy who gave us the excellent documentary "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," is in talks to direct.

John McLaughlin, who wrote the recent Oscar-darling "Black Swan," penned the script which also examines the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife, Alma Reville.

I hope this project moves forward!

Meryl Streep is Forbes' Comedy Queen! Check Out Top Five Top Grossing Actresses in Comedy!

Meryl Streep is the greatest living American actress and now, she's also the No. 1 comedy queen according to Forbes! Over the last five years, Streep's comedies namely "The Devil Wears Prada," "Julie & Julia," "It's Complicated," and "Mamma Mia," have earned a combined box-office total of $1.3 billion worldwide! But wait weren't those films mostly dramedies?

At No. 2 is Sarah Jessica Parker with $916 million regardless of her "Sex and the City 2" tanking.

Katherine Heigl takes the No. 3 spot with $773 million with flops like "Killers" and "Life as We Know It" notwithstanding.

Cameron Diaz follows at No. 4 with $768 million.

The newly-baptized Catwoman, Anne Hathaway, enters at No. 5 with $727 million. Meow!

Oh No! Clint Eastwood Making "A Star Is Born" with Beyonce!

Clint Eastwood is in early talks to direct "A Star Is Born" for Warner Bros. according to the Hollywood Reporter.

This is wrong in so many levels!

First, really? Another "A Star Is Born" movie?

This would mark the fourth time the project has been turned into a film. First was the 1937 movie starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. Then in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

Granted the last reboot was decades ago but do we really need another "A Star Is Born" film? The answer is a resounding NO!

Contemporary Hollywood must leave this rags-to-riches melodrama where it belongs -- in our rich pop-culture history. And that's that!

And then, Eastwood wants to hire Beyonce to play the female lead! Another...what? I admire Beyonce as a singer but the girl can't act! Have you seen her wooden acting in "Obsessed" with Ali Larter? Her acting was unintentionally campy!

Even her most-lauded performance in "Dreamgirls" was pedantic at best. Her acting in the musical was so learned that it came off strained.

Eastwood may be the current director attached to this long-gestating project but at one point, Joel Schumacher and Nick Cassavetes were set to helm. Will Smith and Russell Crowe were also attached to the project once upon a time.

Right now, the search is on for an actor to play an older rock star.

My advice to Mister Clint? Forget about this project and concentrate on "J. Edgar" instead! His biopic on F.B.I. icon J. Edgar Hoover is far more interesting and intriguing and original with a great cast headed by Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer, Josh Lucas, and Judi Dench!
