OMG! It's Confirmed! Willow Smith to Star As "Annie!"

As we told you last week, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith were planning to remake the 1982 film "Annie" and they want their daughter, the "Whip Her Hair" singing sensation, Willow Smith, to star as the adorable little orphan. (See Willow Smith to Whip Her Hair as "Annie?")

The Smith's company, Overbrook Entertainment, has confirmed that it had made a pack with rapper Jay-Z to develop and produce "Annie."

As I've said before, this project might work -- adding an urban, gritty feel to the well-worn story of "Annie" may put a contemporary spin to the familiar tale. Can you imagine Willow singing, and perhaps, rapping to "It's the Hard Knock Life?" No, not the Jay-Z Ghetto Anthem version, but that might work with this film too!

John Travolta to Play John Gotti? But Wait There's More...

John Travolta is in serious talks to play New York City mob boss John Gotti in "Gotti" according to EW. Fiore Films is behind the project and is putting Nick Cassavetes on top of its director wishlist.

And, Fiore also wants James Franco to play John Gotti Jr!

Can you see the similarities? :wink

Apparently, Franco is in preliminary talks with Fiore but his rep revealed to EW, “A script was sent to him. That’s all. There are no plans for him to do it at this time.”

Marc Fiore, the CEO of Fiore Films, compared the planned "Gotti" project to "The Godfather!" Really? Here's what he said, "It’s a story about a father and a son, but the father happens to be John Gotti Sr.”

The Gotti family is working with Fiore Films, and that's a good thing! They will have a firsthand account of the real-life mob drama!

Naomi Watts to Play J. Edgar Hoover's Girl Friday!

Another week and another star has joined Clint Eastwood's biopic "J. Edgar." Deadline exclusively told us that Watts will play Helen Gandy, J. Edgar Hoover's (Leonardo DiCaprio) faithful secretary for 54 years. She knew all of Hoover's dirty little secrets and destroyed his personal file after the former FBI crime-fighter died.

The script is written by Academy Award-winner Dustin Lance Black ("Milk") and Imagine's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are producing with Eastwood and his Malpaso partner Rob Lorenz.

Once upon a time, Charlize Theron was set to play the Gandy role, but she chose to work on "Snow White and the Huntsman" instead.

Watts will now join the rest of the cast including Ed Westwick (Agent Smith), Damon Herriman (Bruno Hauptmann), Ken Howard (U.S. attorney General Harlan F. Stone), and "The Social Network's" Armie Hammer is cast as Clyde Tolson, the is-he or is-he-not lover of Hoover.

"The Rite" Movie Review! How Many Kisses Does Anthony Hopkins Get?

One can argue that Anthony Hopkins, nineteen years after winning an Academy Award for his memorable turn as Hannibal Lecter in "The Silence of the Lambs," could not shake off the image of his iconic serial killer portrayal.

In the new thriller "The Rite," Hopkins plays a legendary priest who has performed thousands of exorcisms. Look closely in his performance, and you can see an evil cannibal glint in his eyes. Read More...
