
Michel Hazanavicius' "The Artist" led the nominees of the 2012 Orange British Academy Film Awards. The Golden Globe-winning silent film received 12 nominations including Best Picture, Director, and Original Screenplay.
Tomas Alfredson's "Tinker Tailor Solder Spy" followed with 11 nods, Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" received 9, while "My Week with Marilyn" got 6, and "The Help" and "War Horse" each received 5 nominations.
"The Artist" was also honored for Original Music, Cinematography, Editing, Make Up & Hair, Costume Design, Sound and Production Design. Jean Dujardin received a Leading Actor nomination and his co-star, Bérénice Bejo was given a Leading Actress nod.
During the round one voting of the members of the British Academy, the BAFTA longlist was announced where "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and "My Week with Marilyn" received 16 nods. Round two yielded official nominations where the two films gave way to "The Artist." (Check out the BAFTA longlist right here)
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" was relegated to its usual categories -- Make Up & Hair, Production Design, Sound and Special Visual Effects.
Winners of the Orange British Academy Film Awards will be revealed on Sunday, February 12th at the Royal Opera House. The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Fry, with the red carpet coverage presented by Edith Bowman.

The Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA), of which I'm a proud voting member, has announced the winners for the best in film and television of 2011. Taking the top spot at the Dorian Awards is Andrew Haigh's daring gay film "Weekend" which won Film of the Year!
Meryl Streep was given the Film Performance of the Year award for her Golden Globe-winning portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady." Michael Fassbender received the We're Wilde About You Rising Star of the Year for his raw, emotional performance in "Shame" and for being awesome in everything he starred in in 2011 (he's the male equivalent of Jessica Chastain)!
A celebratory toast will be held Sunday, February 19 in Los Angeles.
