Jean-Claude Van Damme Wants to do "Bloodsport 2"

First of, if you guys haven't seen "JCVD" yet, what are you waiting for? It's actually a good film, with Van Damme poking fun at his celebrity stature.

Now, JCVD has confirmed to our friends at that he is working on "Bloodsport 2," and he is calling it a TRUE sequel, not the other wannabe sequels namely "Bloodsport 2," "Bloodsport 3," and "Bloodsport: The Dark Kumite."

It is of interest to note that Van Damme wasn't part of any of those sequels!

The actor further says:

“You know, like, we’re gonna do Bloodsport 2...which was my first movie. And I want to do it now in a very mature way, where the guy from Bloodsport is a complete bum, maybe abusing his son."

Hhhhmmmm...a darker take? A mature angle? Wow, I just may see this one IF studios agree, but...

“They told me, ‘No, no, no! You cannot make a movie in America where a father is abusing his son physically! It’s wrong."

“And you cannot be a guy on drugs doing karate and shit like that.’ I said, ’Why? Why? Tell me why.’

"It’s against the rules of success. But I believe the other rules of success. To show something real.”

Will Van Damme succeed in getting the sequel based on his vision? Stay tuned, oh yeah, I love that he's trying to keep it real!

Julia Roberts Wants to "Eat, Pray, Love"

Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir "Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia," may be picked up by Columbia from Paramount Pictures, and Julia Roberts is attached to star!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story:

"focuses on a married woman who seemingly has it all but realizes that she's not living the life she wants. She divorces her husband and sets off on a journey around the world."

This sounds like a fun star-vehicle, but Columbia is making sure that they have clear rights to the title, to avoid "Watchmen" type of debacle with Paramount.

"Taken" Takes Box-Office Crown!

Who knew Liam Neeson can be a box-office sweetheart?

"Taken," the actor's CIA thriller pushed "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" to No. 2 at the weekend box office, selling $24.6 million in ticket sales, landing at No. 1!

The film helped Hollywood earned its first $1 billion January, yes billion, in history!

Like what most scholars say, when the economy is tough, the movie business soars. Folks want to be entertained, and honestly, the $10 ticket price is still a cheap form of entertainment.

Meanwhile, "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," the Kevin James comedy which had been No. 1 for two weeks earned $14 million lifting its 3-week total to $83 million. Not bad for a so-so flick that was made for $26 million bucks! Congrats Sony Pictures!

The two other new films which opened this weekend, "The Uninvited" and "New in Town" failed to reach the top spot. The horror flick "The Uninvited" earned $10.5 million at No. 3., while the Renee Zelwegger dramedy, "New in Town" took $6.7, placing it at No. 8.

"Slumdog Millionaire" continues to bask in its Oscar glory! The Oscar front-runner earned $7.7 million landing at No. 6.

And good, old Clint Eastwood. His "Gran Torino" has now earned more than $110 million, making it Eastwood's highest grossing film. Wow! Folks love Mister Clint, especially when he grunts and acts like an old curmudgeon with a very big heart :happy

Final figures will be released Monday, but here's the most current Hollywood estimates for the Top 10 films in box-office for weekend of January 30:

1. "Taken," $24.6 million.
2. "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," $14 million.
3. "The Uninvited," $10.5 million.
4. "Hotel for Dogs," $8.7 million.
5. "Gran Torino," $8.6 million.
6. "Slumdog Millionaire," $7.7 million.
7. "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans," $7.2 million.
8. "New in Town," $6.7 million.
9. "My Bloody Valentine 3-D," $4.3 million.
10. "Inkheart," $3.7 million.
