Director Ang Lee's Interesting Upcoming Film

Okay, just for the record! I adore Ang Lee! And no, not just because of "Brokeback Mountain," but because of his impressive talent as a director! Just think -- how can a director go from a Taiwanese drama like "The Wedding Banquet" or "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman" then off to Jane Austen land with the superb "Sense and Sensibility?"

Then the gritty "The Ice Storm" in 1997, then 3 years later? The fantastic "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

This dude is amazing!

So, I have no doubt, his upcoming film with Focus, opening this August called "Taking Woodstock" will be great.

But wait, this story is about Lee's plans to direct the film adaptation of the book, "Life of Pi."

Author Yann Martel won the Man Booker Prize for this novel, and I believe Lee will be able to give this coming-of-age survival tale.

But it's very, very tricky.

The story?

An Indian boy survives 227 days after a shipwreck stranded on a boat in the Pacific Ocean. His companions? A hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a mean Bengal tiger.

The book's themes runs the gamut from religion to spirituality and finally, redemption.

Interesting right? And trivia buffs, just FYI, Lee inherited this project from M. Night Shyamalan.

Oh Those Costumes! Which Film Took the Top Prize!

Alright guess. Which movie took the contemporary costume design laurel at the 11th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards?

Give up?

It's not too hard to predict!

It' guessed it, "Slumdog Millionaire!"

On the road to Oscar glory, the film took the top prize, presented to Suttirat Larlarb. Congratulations!

For period film category? Michael O'Connor's 18th Century fashion for "The Duchess" triumphed!

And then, "The Dark Knight's" Lindy Hemming took home the award for fantasy film!

Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks for those lovely costumes!

Did You See Writer/Producer/Director/Actor Mike White on "The Amazing Race" Season 14?

I adore Mike White's creativity! Just look at some of the highlights of his resume:

"Freaks and Geeks," "Nacho Libre, "Them

"Them," "Nacho Libre," "The School of Rock," "The Good Girl," "Orange County," "Chuck & Buck"

"Chuck & Buck," "Orange County," "The Good Girl"

"Year of the Dog"

And to my surprise, I watched Sunday's season premiere of "The Amazing Race." White was there with his dad! And incidentally, both are gay and fighting for the race of their lives!

I love the show, I've been an "Amazing Race" addict since its first season, but I specifically don't want to meet the contestants until the show premiere. I don't want to have any preconceived notions about them! I'm a dork, yes.

So I'm clamoring for Team White, but I also love the mother and her hearing-impaired son!

Oh, here's the "Amazing Race" promo spot featuring White and his dad, Mel, just in case:
