"Valentine's Day" Tops Friday's Box Office! Sweet!

Viewers fell in love with "Valentine's Day" and put the film on the top spot for Friday. The all-star ensemble flick earned $14.6 million, making it the No. 1 movie to start the four-day President's Day weekend.

(Watch my interviews with "Valentine's Day" stars right here, and my movie review right here)

Meanwhile, Universal's remake, "The Wolfman" starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, and Emily Blunt, enjoyed a strong $9.8 million opening, putting the film on the No. 2 spot. (Watch my movie review of "The Wolfman" right here)

Debuting at No. 3 is Fox's family adventure "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." The kid-magnet film attracted $9.7 million at the box office, slightly under "The Wolfman."

At fourth place is "Avatar" with $4.5 million, while "Dear John" made $4.1 million.

Many insiders are predicting that "Valentine's Day" will have a four-day total of $50 million because heck, it's Valentine's Day after all, and people are in the mood for love, or at least to watch many stars fall in and out of love.

Because after all, it's all about love.

"The Lone Ranger" Gets "Revolutionary Road" Writer!

Ooooh, will the Lone Ranger and Tonto be put into dramatic situations ala Leo and Kate in "Revolutionary Road?" Justin Haythe, who adapted the Sam Mendes-directed flick, is currently in talks with Disney to write "The Lone Ranger."

Well, that's good news, right?

Maybe Haythe can bring pathos to the Lone Ranger and his sidekick Tonto.

Almost two years since we reported Disney's plans to resurrect "Lone Rangers" (Read "HI-HO SILVER AWAY! "THE LONE RANGER" TO GALLOP TO THE BIG SCREEN!!!"), the project is galloping faster than a fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty hi-ho silver away!

We all know Depp is playing Tonto, and Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the project, now we know who's going to write!

Questions Surrounding "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" Adaptation

The film adaptation of "Breaking Dawn," the fourth installment of the super-successful "Twilight" franchise, is surrounded with many unanswered questions. Let's break them down, shall we?

1) Will Summit Entertainment split the last film into two, ala "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?" Studio's answer? Deny!

2) Will the film be in glorious 3-D? Twihards are divided in this question -- some want to see Edward's glistening face in three dimension, while others refuse to wear 3-D glasses! Studio's answer? Not sure!

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Summit must make a decision by the end of the month in order to "meet production deadlines. Our bet is they decide to go whole hog, or wolf, as it were: two films, in 3D, with much to gain and little to lose."

I agree, unless author Stephenie Meyer decides to stop the "Twilight" train dead in its tracks. After all, she has the final word. Amen.

Read Oscar-Nominated Script "In the Loop" Online!

"In the Loop" is a political farce at its finest! It premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival, and since then, the film has been generating buzz specifically towards its script written by Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Tony Roche, and Armando Iannucci. Yes folks, sometimes, multiple screenwriters can do magic to a film...sometimes...

The script has received nominations from BAFTA, the London critics, the Chicago critics, and now, the Oscars (check out full Oscar nominations right here). It has already won at the British Independent Film Awards and the New York Film Critics Circle.

IFC Films, the movie's distributor, has made the script available online so Academy voters can read it prior to the March 2nd deadline. Want to download the script? Click here right now.

And Ianucci, who also directed the film, wrote a special note just for you. Click here to read Ianucci's message.
