First of all, I thought, what was Sony Pictures thinking of remaking the fantastic 1964 musical "My Fair Lady?" And then I heard Colin Firth, who is set to go home with an Oscar for "The King's Speech," is being courted to star as Henry Higgins, played by Rex Harrison in the original. Not bad at all! I could imagine Firth in the Henry Higgins role. Plus, the actor has proven he could sing in 2008's "Mamma Mia!"
And then I heard that Carey Mulligan is already attached to play Eliza Doolittle. She has pretty big shoes to fill with the memorable Audrey Hepburn in the original role. But then it's Mulligan. She can act, I don't know if she can sing, but the tandem of Mulligan and Firth are making me so excited! The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain indeed!
Hollywood.com via Daily Mail also revealed that once upon a time, Hugh Grant was supposed to be taking the Henry Higgins role but then again, Grant has not starred in any film worthy of mentioning, hence, Firth got the role.
For now, let's check the trailer of the original "My Fair Lady" and imagine Mulligan and Firth in the roles of Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins!

As we told you in January, Robert Pattinson has signed to star in "Cosmopolis" from director David Cronenberg based on the novel by Don DeLillo. (See Robert Pattinson to Play Multi-Billionaire in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis")
Now comes casting news. Paul Giamatti and Matthieu Almaric have been confirmed, and joining them is the fantastic Juliette Binoche.
This project is a far cry for Cronenberg, known as the King of Venereal Horror or the Baron of Blood. "Cosmopolis" is not an outright bloody tale, but perhaps, the horrors are within a young billionaire (Pattinson) who hops in his limo to get a haircut but in a course of traveling across Manhattan, loses his fortune, cheats on his wife, and is threatened by two mysterious folks (one of them will be Giamatti).
It is still unclear what character Binoche would be playing, but can "Cosmopolis" elevate Pattinson's credibility? Can the dude act? From what he showed us in last year's "Remember Me," Pattinson has passion, he just needs a great director to help him, and I'm sure, Cronenberg would be happy to oblige (check out my interview with Pattinson for "Remember Me" right here).

Steve Carell is lining up work to ensure his career post NBC's "The Office." The actor is in talks to star opposite Meryl Streep in director David Frankel's "Great Hope Springs" according to Deadline.
Frankel, who worked with Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada," is directing from a script by Vanessa Taylor. This one's a drama where Carell would play marriage counselor Dr. Feld who is giving advice to a long-married couple (Streep and an undetermined actor, for now) so they could rekindle their marriage during a weekend of intensive therapy. It's like "Couples Retreat" but way smarter!
"Great Hope Springs" is set to begin production in August.
