Director Roland Emmerich has father issues. In most of his films, the son is traditionally rebellious, a non-conforming character who almost always disobeys his father, only to learn that poppa knows best.
Emmerich has explored this father-son paradigm in “The Patriot,” where Heath Ledger’s character gave his father (played by Mel Gibson) unnecessary grief, and in “The Day After Tomorrow” where dad Dennis Quaid must travel hundreds of miles on foot to rescue his stubborn son (Jake Gyllenhaal).
In the new film “10,000 B.C.,” Emmerich traveled way back to reach the day before tomorrow, but his father complex is still intact. Only this time, it’s the son who’s doing much of the walking. Read More...

Not too long ago, the mere mention of director Michael Bay's name sent shivers down my spine! I used to regard him as a hack, who couldn't tell a good story even if his life depended it!
Then, I saw "Transformers" last year! It's not an instant classic, but it's entertaining, and definitely, the popcorn movie of the summer! So all's well right? Wrong!
Michael Bay, the producer, symbolizes what's wrong with our current Hollywood system! Lack of creativity! Just remake films, pray that contemporary pop culture will lap it up, and make lots of money!
Just look at his oeuvre as a producer, it rivals the horror section of your friendly video store:
2003 "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"
2005 "The Amityville Horror"
2006 "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning"
2007 "The Hitcher"
2009 "Friday the 13th" (pre-production)
2009 "The Birds" (pre-production)
2010 "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (pre-production)
But wait there's more!
I've been ticked off that Bay thought he could out-Hitchcock Hitchcock with "The Birds" remake for this generation, but wait until you see what he's planning to do next. Read More...
