WAHLBERG'S "MAX PAYNE" GETS A SIDEKICK!!!

As I reported back in November, Rockstar's popular videogame, "Max Payne," will get the Hollywood treatment with Mark Wahlberg attached to star.

I just heard that Twentieth Century Fox hired an actress to star opposite Wahlberg. She'll play an assassin who teams up with the title character to avenge her sister's death. Wahlberg plays Payne, a cop haunted by the tragic loss of his family who finds himself in the thick of a conspiracy when he investigates a series of murders.

So who's playing opposite Wahlberg in this John Moore-directed adaptation? Read More...

"SOPRANOS" MOVIE RUMOR REVEALED!!!

The real-life manager of the strip club that fronted for the Bada Bing on HBO's "The Sopranos" thinks there might be. Satin Dolls manager Nick D'Urso says he's holding off on renovations to the strip club in Lodi, N.J., after getting a tip that a movie would be made. He wouldn't name the tipster.

An HBO spokeswoman says there's no truth to the rumor that plans are in the works for a film about Tony Soprano and his mob crew.

As first reported in The Record of Bergen County, D'Urso says he'll wait until after the summer to renovate in case the tip pans out.

"10,000 B.C." TRAMPLES EVERYONE AT THE BOX-OFFICE!!!

"10,000 B.C." hunts up $37.5 million at the box-office! Not bad for a movie that's beautiful to look at, but has a bad narrative structure. The film also opened at No. 1 in 19 of its 20 foreign markets, among them Spain, Mexico, Germany, and Australia.

Overall business was off compared to the same time frame a year ago, an almost inevitable decline given that the blockbuster "300" opened with $71 million over that weekend in 2007, twice the haul of "10,000 B.C."

The top-12 movies took in $91.8 million, down 34 percent from the same weekend last year.

What about the rest of the films? Click read more to see the complete top ten box-office list for the weekend of March 7th, 2008. Read More...

LOOK, MAMMOTHS!!! READ MY "10,000 B.C." MOVIE REVIEW!!!

Director Roland Emmerich has father issues. In most of his films, the son is traditionally rebellious, a non-conforming character who almost always disobeys his father, only to learn that poppa knows best.

Emmerich has explored this father-son paradigm in “The Patriot,” where Heath Ledger’s character gave his father (played by Mel Gibson) unnecessary grief, and in “The Day After Tomorrow” where dad Dennis Quaid must travel hundreds of miles on foot to rescue his stubborn son (Jake Gyllenhaal).

In the new film “10,000 B.C.,” Emmerich traveled way back to reach the day before tomorrow, but his father complex is still intact. Only this time, it’s the son who’s doing much of the walking.
