Gossip: Who Wants to Replace Zac Efron in "Footloose" Remake?

That word "Gossip" in the headline is a dead giveaway because "Gossip Girl" star, Chace Crawford has reportedly auditioned to replace Zac Efron in the "Footloose" remake.

Efron, who was set to channel original film's star Kevin Bacon for the revamp, quit unexpectedly due to "script disagreements" but really, because the actor does not want to shake his booty for the camera anymore.

And so, enter Crawford. E! Online is reporting that the actor impressed movie studio bosses, one source tells the website, "He did really well."

Wow, this is sorta like "All About Eve" with actors vying to be the next dance king for "Footloose."

"Star Trek" the Sequel Already in the Works!

The upcoming "Star Trek" movie will not invade theaters until May 8 but Paramount is so sure it'll be a hit that they asked a team of screenwriters to begin working on the sequel!

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (who wrote the upcoming "Star Trek" film), along with Damon Lindelof have been commissioned for the follow-up.

Director JJ Abrams is also returning, but for now, just to produce. No word yet on whether he'll helm the sequel.

Lindelof tells Variety, "There's obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn't even come out yet. But we're so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed."

As for the plot? The writers want to take a cue from you, movie buffs. The team wants to hear your fan reactions when the new film opens in May.

Kurtzman adds, "Obviously we discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month," he said. "With a franchise rebirth, the first movie has to be about origin. But with a second, you have the opportunity to explore incredibly exciting things. We'll be ambitious about what we'll do."

Another Actor Joins "Twilight's" Sequel -- "New Moon" Plus the Vampire Saga's DVD Sales!

British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower has been hired by Summit Entertainment to join the cast of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."

You may remember Campbell-Bower from "Sweeney Todd" and honestly? I'm not a big fan of this guy, I think he's way too pretty, he looks like Scarlett Johannson. :happy

BUT, he may be good in the role of a Volturi vampire.

By the way, the sequel, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, is shooting right now in Vancouver under the helm of director Chris Weitz.

Its DVD sales is now hitting 5.6 million units! "Twilight" has officially passed previous title-holder, DreamWorks' "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa." The animated film has sold 5.3 million units since its release Feb. 6.

So with sales numbers like this? Expect more "Twilight" goodies to come your way, Twi-hards!

So "Bruno" is Very Dirty! MPAA Gives the Film NC-17!!!!

Sharon Waxman of The Wrap revealed that Sacha Baron Cohen's latest opus, "Bruno," has been slapped with an NC-17 rating because of numerous sexual scenes!

Some of the objectionable scenes are:

Bruno -- a gay Austrian fashionista played by Baron Cohen -- appears to have anal sex with a man on camera. In another, the actor goes on a hunting trip and sneaks naked into the tent of one of the fellow hunters, an unsuspecting non-actor.

Oh my! I like this film already :happy

Universal, the studio behind the film, confirmed: "On its first submission the film did not receive an R but it is far too early to say that there is any struggle to get there as the process is only at its inception.”

Right now, Cohen is appealing the decision, and making the necessary cuts to appease the MPAA. Well, we know the board has no sense of humor so, Cohen may have to cut more!
