"Sleepless in Seattle" the Musical?

It seems that Broadway has been turning Hollywood hits into big musical productions every day!

Just this week alone, we heard of "Spider-Man" the musical, and now, get ready for show-stopping numbers from "Sleepless in Seattle!"

The Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan 1993 romantic flick is getting a song-and-dance makeover!

According to Daily Variety, the film's screenwriter, Jeff Arch, is working with composer and lyricist Leslie Bricusse ("Doctor Doolittle," "Victor/Victoria").

The theater adaptation is targeting 2010 for its release, and it will be directed by Joel Zwick ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding").

I know, I know, I complain about these things, but I'll be first in line when it opens :happy

Sean Penn Campaigns for Milk Day!

Leave it to Academy award winner Sean Penn to be truly productive!

The "Milk" actor's latest passion is to urge California lawmakers to officially recognize Harvey Milk's birthday.

He has joined a campaign to designate May 22nd (Milk's birthday) as Milk day!

There's only one big problem! It was proposed last year, but Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed it.

But with "Milk's" critical success, State Senator Mark Leno is saying Milk is now, more than ever, clearly seen as a civil rights champion!

Will the Governator finally approve this proposal? Stay tuned...

"Slumdog Millionaire's" Danny Boyle NOT Directing James Bond

Britain's The Sun newspaper claimed Danny Boyle "has been offered the chance to direct the 23rd Bond film by (Bond producer) Barbara (Broccoli). Everyone on the Eon team thinks Danny would be the perfect addition to the Bond family."

Apparently, Boyle was asked by "James Bond" bosses to direct the upcoming sequel after he wowed the world with "Slumdog Millionaire."

Now, Boyle's spokeswoman is saying:

"While Danny says he always has and always will enjoy the Bond movies he has no plans to direct one. Danny is naturally flattered to be thought of!"

So that should settle this rumor, a great one, but alas, it's not going to happen...for now at least.

What "Watchmen's" Jackie Earle Haley Says About the Freddy Krueger Rumors

Personally? I think it's a great idea for Jackie Earle Haley to channel Freddy Krueger in the planned upcoming remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street."

Now that Michael Bay and company have found a director, casting the lead role is the next integral part.

But who should play one of the most memorable boogeymen of our generation?

Fans are clamoring loudly for Jackie Earle Haley (he was actually great as Rorschach in "Watchmen," and of course, he stole scenes in "Little Children").

So what does Haley think of the idea? He reveals the following to MTV news:

“You know, I did hear about that just recently...a lot of people have been asking me.”

“I’m curious.”

We're curious too Mister Jackie!

And one more thing, keep in mind that fans lobbied for Haley to star as Rorschach, that became a fruition so we may soon see him as Krueger!

The Plot of "Monopoly" Movie Will Be About...the Economic Crisis!

What's with Hollywood mirroring real-life issues? First, kudos to the film industry for doing so, but "Confessions of a Shopaholic" touched upon the credit crisis, and even "Sex and the City" the sequel will be talking about the financial issues as well.

Do we really need to see our economic problems right on the big screen when all we want is to be entertained? Especially from films that are made for pure entertainment value?

So MTV is exclusively reporting that the upcoming "Monopoly" movie will deal with...the economy. Executive producer Brian Goldner reveals:

"The whole world is about the financial markets,” Goldner told MTV News. “You can’t turn on the news today without understanding the financial markets and what’s going on out there.”

But I guess when the film is going to be about owning homes and properties, our economic crisis will be a big issue.

And with visionary director Ridley Scott on the helm, you know he's going to turn this into a reality-based film.

“I have to direct it,” Scott says. “We’re in progress right now. We’re having it written. We have identified a pretty good story and it is fundamentally a movie, not a game, probably describing in a way the characters in the film, the passion of the game, and how the game came about.”

So Scott and company...pass, go, and collect!
