"Twilight" Director and Summit Friends Again! Catherine Hardwicke Directing Studio's Upcoming Film

Catherine Hardwicke signed on for Summit Entertainment's upcoming fantasy-drama "If I Stay."

Hardwicke, as you know, directed the company's biggest blockbuster flick, "Twilight," and then didn't sign on for the sequel "New Moon."

But now, it's official! The director and the studio have kissed and made up!

Based on Gayle Forman's upcoming novel (to be released April 2), "If I Stay" (according to Amazon):

In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeenyear- old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...
A sophisticated, layered, and heartachingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make—and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

This sounds interesting, and yeah, I can picture Hardwicke directing it.

Summit president of production Eric Feig says, "When we were thinking of the perfect director to capture the emotion, grace and passion of this beautiful book, one filmmaker became the clear and only choice: Catherine Hardwicke."
