Jason Segel to Star in Disney's Muppet Movie!

Jason Segel will star as the human lead in Disney's Muppets movie! The actor co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller (he directed Segel in the smash hit "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"), and will also produce the project with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films/TV, the production outfit behind "The Proposal."

When I spoke with Segel during the press tour for "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," he talked about the Muppets movie. Click here to watch my fun one-on-one interview with Segel.

James Bobin is set to direct the film, although the plot is top secret right now. But TheHollywoodReporter.com is saying that Segel will play a man on a quest to find and reunite the Muppets.

If you remember in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," there's a great bit featuring a singing and emoting Dracula puppet, so Segel knows how to add heart and soul to plush Muppets.

Ron Perlman -- from "Hellboy" to "Conan's" Daddy! What Happened to Mickey Rourke?

Just last month, Mickey Rourke was in serious negotiations to play "Conan's" father, Corin. But now, Vulture is exclusively reporting that Perlman, will replace Rourke!

Director Marcus Nispel is set to embark on this "Conan" adventure later this month in Bulgaria for Lionsgate. Jason Momoa is still attached to star in the role that made Arnold Schwarzenegger famous.

As for Rourke, well, the actor was probably asking for a lot of money that Lionsgate couldn't provide. The Corin character though, will be the main motivation of Conan. In the film, the Barbarian goes on a quest to avenge the slaughter of his people, including his father.

"I May Be Finished!" -- Is Mel Gibson's Viking Film with DiCaprio His Last Movie?

Last December, we told you that Mel Gibson will direct Leonardo DiCaprio for the very first time in an untitled drama set in the world of Viking culture. "The Departed's" William Monahan is writing the script.

Now, in an interview with the LA Times, Gibson reflected:

“It was the first movie I ever thought about making," Gibson said of making the Viking project. "I saw it in my mind back when I was teenager. Seriously, it’s the first movie I wanted to make. And I think it will be the last film I direct. It’s the thing I have been going toward, in a way, since I was young, and I think when it’s done I may be finished.”

They are tightening up the script right now (they're working "hammer and tongs" Gibson said), but seriously, don't leave us Mel! Hollywood needs your talent both on and off camera! Just don't get drunk again and spew a bunch of slurs :wink
