From Rabbit Hole to Mr. Rochester, See "Alice in Wonderland's" Mia Wasikowska's Latest Project!

Focus Features has announced that production begins this week in the U.K. for the Focus and BBC Films collaboration "Jane Eyre" based on Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel. Cary Fukunaga ("Sin Nombre") is set to direct from a screenplay adaptation by Moira Buffini.

Mia Wasikowska, fresh from the success of Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," is set to star as the title character. In the story, Jane Eyre (Wasikowska) leaves Thornfield House where she works as a governess for Edward Rochester ("Inglourious Basterds'" Michael Fassbender. Soon, Jane will return to Mr. Rochester and confront the terrible secret that the wealthy man is hiding.

The supporting cast and crew are topnotch! According to Focus:

The supporting cast includes Jamie Bell (of Focus’ September release "The Eagle of the Ninth"), Academy Award winner Judi Dench, Holliday Grainger (of the upcoming "Bel Ami" with Robert Pattinson), Golden Globe Award winner Sally Hawkins ("Happy-Go-Lucky"), Tamzin Merchant (of Focus’ "Pride & Prejudice"), and Imogen Poots (of the May release "Solitary Man").

The director of photography on Jane Eyre is Adriano Goldman, reteaming with Mr. Fukunaga following their acclaimed collaboration on "Sin Nombre." Will Hughes-Jones ("Survivors") is the production designer; Academy Award winner Michael O’Connor ("The Duchess") is the costume designer.

With an excellent cast and crew, Focus CEO James Schamus promises " this will be a Jane Eyre for the ages.”

"A Wrinkle in Time" to Travel to the Big Screen!

Screenwriter Jeff Stockwell has been hired by Cary Granat and his Bedrock Studios to adapt "A Wrinkle in Time," the time-travel extravaganza from author Madeleine L'Engle.

Granat, who previously worked with Disney in the "Chronicles of Narnia" movies and "Bridge to Terabithia," is developing "Wrinkle in Time" for the studio, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

L’Engle’s 1962 Newbery Medal-winning science fiction novel features teenage protagonist Meg Murry, her whiz brother Charles Wallace, and classmate Calvin O'Keefe and their intergalactic mission to rescue Meg's missing scientist father. They are helped along the way by Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which -- I bet you, these characters will be memorable in the film version.

Stockwell previously co-wrote the adaptation of "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys," and "Bridge to Terabithia" for Disney.
