Can You Picture Nathan Fillion as Hermes? Actor to Play God in "Percy Jackson" Sequel!

Many fans believe Nathan Fillion is somewhat of a demigod.

And now, Fox 2000 just sealed that belief by signing the actor to star as Hermes in the sequel "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters" according to THR. This one's based on the second book in Rick Riordan's beloved young-adult book series.

Thor Freudenthal ("Diary of a Wimpy Kid," "Hotel for Dogs") is set to direct the sequel and Logan Lerman is returning as Percy, the demigod. Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson are also coming back for "The Sea Monsters" which will fly into theaters on March 26, 2013.

In the world of Percy Jackson, Hermes is the father of Luke played by Jake Abel. Chris Columbus, who directed the original, is producing the sequel with Karen Rosenfelt.

I've always admired Fillion since he embodied the role of Caleb, the demonic priest, in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Many fans liked him from "Firefly" and he's currently attracting more fanatical adoration in ABC's "Castle."

One Night Only: "The Bodyguard" Returns to Theaters for 20th Anniversary

It's been billed as a celebration of the romantic thriller's 20th anniversary but we all know it's largely due to Whitney Houston's untimely death.

"The Bodyguard" starring the fallen chanteuse and Kevin Costner is heading back to theaters with showings throughout the country on March 28. Warner Bros. is celebrating the film's 20th anniversary by teaming up with NCM Fathom for the one-night-only release.

Gosh, has it been 20 years already? My oh my!

When "The Bodyguard" was released two decades ago, I was a young film critic at Purdue University, and I remember giving this film a B- (that was before I lost my mind and decided to give movies "kisses" LOL)

The movie is aging well, it plays better in the small screen, but it may be a fitting experience to watch this film again on the big screen. And I know, many of you will start sobbing once you hear the 90s romantic anthem, "I Will Always Love You."

Here's the full press release from NCM Fathom:

Centennial, Colo. – March 14, 2012 – One of the biggest box office hits of the 1990s returns to movie theaters this month celebrating The 20th Anniversary of The Bodyguard, a special one-night in-theater event on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. local time. Starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, The Bodyguard became one of the most popular hits of 1992, marking Houston's acting debut. Additionally, The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album went on to become the No. 1 best-selling soundtrack of all time with nearly 12 million copies sold in the U.S., and the sixth best-selling album overall in the Nielsen SoundScan era. Featuring the hugely successful cover of "I Will Always Love You," the album also launched four other hit singles for Houston: “I'm Every Woman,” “Queen of the Night,” and two Oscar® nominated songs, “I Have Nothing” and "Run to You.”

Tickets for The 20th Anniversary of The Bodyguard event are available at participating theater box offices and online at For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the NCM Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

Presented by NCM Fathom Events and Warner Bros., The 20th Anniversary of The Bodyguard event will be broadcast to more than 400 select movie theaters across the country through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network.

“When originally released, the story and unforgettable songs of The Bodyguard, captured the hearts of audiences everywhere,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of NCM Fathom Events. “Through this special anniversary presentation, fans will be able to come together for one night and see it once more on the big screen.”

Directed by Mick Jackson, Costner stars as a former Secret Service Agent-turned-bodyguard who is hired to protect Houston's character, a music star, from an unknown stalker. The bodyguard ruffles the singer's feathers and most of her entourage by tightening security more than they feel is necessary. Eventually the bodyguard and the singer start an affair, and she begins to believe his precautions are necessary when the stalker strikes close to home.

Warner Bros. will release The Bodyguard 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray™ on March 27. Special features include Houston’s well-known “I Will Always Love You” music video and “Memories of The Bodyguard,” a making-of documentary. Featuring director Mick Jackson, writer/producer Lawrence Kasdan, actors Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner and others, the cast and crew will discuss the story’s 17-year path to the screen, reworks of the script, how Jackson and Houston joined the production and more.

What's Up with "Wonder Woman" the Movie? Hollywood May Have to See This Documentary First!

I am a "Wonder Woman" fanatic! There, I admit it. I grew up watching Lynda Carter as the powerful amazonian in the popular TV series. Then, in the late '90s, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" came along. I was enthralled, intrigued, and I started collecting all the BTVS statues, toys, cards, you name it. I even wrote my Masters thesis on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the feminist movement.

So why is "Wonder Woman" missing in action in the big screen? Everyone from "Buffy" creator Joss Whedon to David S. Goyer to Nicholas Winding Refn have tried to resurrect the D.C. Comics goddess to no avail. But there's a new documentary that screened at the 2012 SXSW called "WONDER WOMEN! The Untold Story of American Superheroines" and it makes a great case that Wonder Woman must stake her claim for the big screen. If "Superman" and "The Dark Knight" can do it, so can she! Right?

Here's what "WONDER WOMEN! The Untold Story of American Superheroines" is about, taken from the SXSW website, and below, is the trailer:

"WONDER WOMEN! The Untold Story of American Superheroines" traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman. From the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s to the blockbusters of today, WONDER WOMEN! looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation. "WONDER WOMEN!" goes behind the scenes with Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner, comic writers and artists, and real life superheroines such as Gloria Steinem, Shelby Knox and others who offer an enlightening and entertaining counterpoint to the male dominated superhero genre.

No More "24" Movie?

The big question -- is the movie version of "24" just delayed, or is it dead? Deadline told us that 20th Century Fox is NOT going forward with the film this year. Apparently, the movie has not been greenlit but it was scheduled to shoot in late March while Kiefer Sutherland's new series, "Touch," goes on hiatus in April.

But now, Kiefer may have to wait until he channels his "24" persona again, Jack Bauer, and fans may just have to wait with the actor. I know, we've all been waiting for this "24" film, but are we just waiting in vain? Has the clock stopped ticking?

Rumors of budget reason and Sutherland getting upset! The horror! Read the full article right here.
