I’ve always been a fan of actor Paul Dano. He gave a memorable performance as a son who would not speak in “Little Miss Sunshine,” and he provoked Oscar-winner Daniel Day Lewis to deliver the iconic line “I... drink... your... milkshake!” in “There Will Be Blood.”
In the new film “Being Flynn,” Dano trades verbal acumen with Robert De Niro who plays his absentee father (and a homophobe and bigot to boot!). And let me tell you, the actor match emotion for emotion, word for word with De Niro.
In this interview, we talked about:
*** His interest in working with “Being Flynn”
*** He read the script first, then he bought the book only to find out that Nick Flynn, the memoir author, left him something in the bookstore
*** Meeting his real-life counterpart
*** His biggest takeaway from the movie
*** Working with De Niro

Miss Oliva Thirlby is a quiet, astute actor and she was also pretty much the same during this interview. She was sweet, and thoughtful, and passionate. In the film, Thirlby plays the girlfriend of Paul Dano’s character. She gives him her nurturing side.
In this interview, the “Juno” actress talks about:
*** Her interest in making the movie
*** How she fleshed out the character which did not appear on Nick Flynn’s memoir “Another Bulls—t Night in Suck City”
*** Working with Paul Dano – did she learn anything from co-starring with him?
*** She did not share scenes with Robert De Niro but how was it being in the same film with the icon?
*** How parents shape kids

Writer/director Paul Weitz has explored the bond between father-and-son before in movies like “About a Boy” and “In Good Company.” With “Being Flynn,” Weitz is back to take a look at this unbreakable bond even if the relationship is a bit dysfunctional.
Based on Nick Flynn’s memoir called “Another Bulls—t Night in Suck City,” Paul Dano embodies the author and the great Robert De Niro is his homophobic, bigoted father. Julianne Moore plays the caring mother, and Olivia Thirlby (“Juno”) is his nurturing girlfriend.
In this interview, Weitz talked about:
*** Why it took 7 years to develop “Being Flynn”
*** Writing 30 drafts of the script, and which one was eventually used
*** What was his initial attraction to the film?
*** Why explore the father-son dynamic again?
*** Alcoholism, drug abuse, and the many demons in “Being Flynn”
*** Meeting the real Jonathan Flynn
*** Working with Robert De Niro

A Houston-area rave, imitating the hit party-movie "Project X," ended in gunfire. Now, one man is dead.
According to The Huffington Post, police say that several attendees fired guns, killing on person, when authorities attempted to break up the massive house party which had roughly 1,000 revelers. The Facebook and Twitter announcement for the party invite promised free drugs and alcohol, hence, many folks showed up.
Police say the victim was between 17 and 19 years old and the suspect is still on the loose.
"Project X" was a surprise hit for Warner Bros. from "The Hangover" director, Todd Phillips, doing producing duties this time. The found-footage party movie has made $40.1 million at the box-office so far. Warner wants a sequel and has tapped Michael Bacall, who co-wrote the script with Matt Drake, to write the treatment.
Apparently, "Project X"-inspired parties began surfacing after the release of the trailer. Let's hope that kids will be smarter and learn from this tragedy.

The fourth installment in the super-popular "Paranormal Activity" franchise will scare viewers on Oct. 19, and today, we heard that Paramount has picked a writer.
Zack Estrin, writer/executive producer on ABC's "The River" is set to pen "Paranormal Activity 4." Having "Paranormal" producer Jason Blum and creator Oren Peli as executive producers of "The River" surely helped matters. They are probably impressed with Estrin's talent in giving folks the heebie jeebies.
"Paranormal Activity" is one of the most profitable franchises ever! Just look at the math: the first "Paranormal Activity" was made for $15,000 and grossed $193.4 million worldwide!
"Paranormal Activity 2" cost $3 million to make and eventually sold $177.5 million worth of box-office tickets worldwide.
The third "Paranormal" cost about $5 million and made $202.2 million worldwide.
Can you see the pattern here? So how much will "Paranormal Activity 4" cost? $10 million maybe? It can't be that much! There are no-name stars and no heavy special effects trickery needed.
The plot is still under lock and key but if we're going by the narrative thread of the franchise, the fourth installment will be a continuation of what was revealed in "Paranormal Activity 3."
I enjoyed this franchise -- the most profitable found-footage series yet! Take a look at my interviews with the "Paranormal Activity" folks through the years:
