Emory Cohen Interview for “The Place Beyond the Pines”

Emory Cohen (“Smash,” “New York, I Love You”) stars as AJ, the son of Bradley Cooper’s character. He plays a petulant, spoiled son who must realize the sins of his father for his road to redemption. I enjoyed this movie from director Derek Cianfrance (“Blue Valentine”). Ryan Gosling reteams with Cianfrance for this daring look at familial setting. In this interview, Cohen and I talked about:

*** When he first saw the script what did he think?
*** What attracted him to his character AJ?
*** He taught me how to say Schenectady correctly!
*** How he create a perfect chemistry with Dane DeHaan who plays Ryan Gosling’s son?
*** How he bonded with DeHaan through movies! Marlon Brando or James Dean? Al Pacino or Robert De Niro? Bradley Cooper or Ryan Gosling?

Have fun!

My Fun Interview with the Lovely Lily Tomlin for “Admission” – I LOVE HER!

I love, love, love Lily Tomlin! The iconic actress is so down-to-earth and witty! And she's fantastic in the new movie “Admission” from director Paul Weitz based on the novel by Jean Hanff Korelitz and adapted by Karen Croner. Tomlin stars as Susannah, the mother of Tina Fey's character. She's a staunch feminist who may have misguided her daughter early on in life. Paul Rudd also stars in “Admission” – a sweet, smart, heartfelt film about letting someone in in your life. In this interview, we talked about:

*** Her attraction to the film
*** Her well-drawn character and her tattoo in the movie in homage to Bella Abzug, one of the leaders of the women's movement
*** The movie's crux is passion – what drives Miss Lily Tomlin?
*** Her love for Palm Springs – I invited her and partner Jane Wagner to live with me

And then...she kissed me...awwwwww. I wished that was caught on tape but alas, it will always reside in my dreams and in my heart.

Have fun!

"The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" Movie Review

There's only one big movie opening this weekend and that is the comedy "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone." It explores the world of magician with Steve Carrell in the title role and Steve Buscemi playing his magician partner, Anton Marvelton. Trouble arises when Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), an up-and-coming street magician, arrives at the scene. Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, and James Gandolfini also star from director Don Scardino ("30 Rock") and adapted by the "Horrible Bosses" scribes, Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley.

But is the movie truly incredible? Take a look:

Gerard Butler & Director Antoine Fuqua Interview “Olympus Has Fallen”

I am very happy to report that Gerard Butler is back in the mode we love him the most – action! Helping him is director Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”). Together, the two (Butler also served as producer of the film) created an intense, nail-biting, non-stop action flick that has absolutely no pretensions! And I enjoyed the film!

Butler stars as Mike Banning, a disgraced Presidential guard who must return to the White House to save our POTUS from Korean terrorists. And did I tell you the movie is intense? And that’s largely due to Fuqua’s firm direction.

In this interview, we talked about:

*** The film’s substance
*** The White House has not been attacked like this since aliens zapped it in “Independence Day”
*** How the film was developed – listen to Fuqua’s calm answer

Have fun!

Angela Bassett & Aaron Eckhart Talk “Olympus Has Fallen”

I love, love, love Angela Bassett! She’s one of the sweetest, down-to-earth folks I’ve ever interviewed! And Aaron Eckhart is equally sweet and answered my questions with wit! Both star in the new movie “Olympus Has Fallen” with Gerard Butler doing double-duty as producer and actor. This is from the “Training Day” director, Antoine Fuqua, and let me tell ya, it’s guns ablazing! An all-out action film blessed with fine actors.

Bassett plays the Secret Service Director Lynn Jacobs while Eckhart is our President Benjamin Asher. Both characters are tested when the White House was taken over by an insane terrorist, Kang, played by Rick Yune.

In this interview, we talked about:

*** What got them interested to join the cast of “Olympus Has Fallen”
*** To Aaron – how was it working with Melissa Leo? How they one-up each other in the set!
*** To Angela – working with Morgan Freeman
*** Was the journey in working with director Antoine Fuqua all worth it?
*** How Fuqua motivated them
*** What do they want fans to feel after watching “Olympus Has Fallen”

Have fun!
