Elizabeth Shue to Star in "Piranha 3-D"

Why would Elisabeth Shue sign on, let alone entertain the thought of starring in "Piranha" remake? Surely the actress wasn't enticed by the film's 3-D technology. It's probably because Shue just wants to have fun in a film role designed for mindless entertainment.

According to moviehole.net:

Shue is playing the role of Sherrif Julie Forester, a take-charge authority figure in the community of Lake Victoria - where the action/ankle-biting takes place. She's the mother of Jake (one of the central characters in the film - the shy teenager who gets to prove his worth when human-eating fish threaten his family and friends), Laura and Zane.

Oh, similar to the roles Dee Wallace used to play in the '80s :happy

By the way, the remake is going to be directed by Alexandre Aja ("Mirrors," "The Hills Have Eyes") from a script with multiple writers attached (Aja, Josh Stolberg, Pete Goldfinger, Gregory Levasseur).

The Weinstein Company is hoping to release the film on March 19, 2010.

Now travel back in time with me, 1978 to be exact, and watch the trailer of the original "Piranha."

Keira Knightley to Fall in Love with Ray Winstone in new Gangster Flick

Ugh, they're the most unlikely couple! Keira Knightley and Ray Winstone are set to play lovers in a new gangster flick, "London Boulevard."

The actors are getting ready to co-star with Colin Farrell and Anna Friel. And the film is the first directorial project by William Monahan, the fantastic writer of "The Departed."

So Knightley is going to play a reclusive actress who becomes romantically involved with Winstone. So where is Farrell in the picture?

"London Boulevard" is set to start shooting in the U.K. this summer.

As far as the Merry Men? Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, and Alan Doyle are set to co-star.

The film is written by Brian Helgeland, Oscar winner for "L.A. Confidential."

The production is filming right now in the U.K.
