OH NO! "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in Jeopardy! Author Stephenie Meyer Accused of Plagiarism!

The sequel, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is currently being shot in Canada BUT it has been thrown into jeopardy! Author Stephenie Meyer is facing a plagiarism lawsuit over the vampire series! Yikes!

Summit Entertainment, help and save your super-popular franchise!

Wait it gets better, here's the rest of the article from WENN:

But production on the second film has reportedly been halted following claims Meyer is facing legal action from her former college roommate, who is said to have accused the writer of basing the novels on her ideas.

Heidi Stanton - who studied alongside Meyer at Brigham Young University, Utah - claims the vampire books are similar to a short story she wrote when she was a student there.

Stanton filed her lawsuit against Meyer in Utah last Tuesday, alleging idea infringement.

She states in the papers, "Quite frankly, I was shocked when I began watching the movie with my husband last week. I immediately told him that she got that idea from me! I wrote a fictional short story with the same ideas when we were in college together."

Meyer claims the premise for the popular series came to her in a dream in June 2003 and she completed the first novel three months later.

And the legal battle has reportedly cast doubt on the highly-anticipated New Moon, with production being "put on hold" until the case is resolved, according to the website.

New Moon is scheduled for release at the end of the year.

*** So what is it Miss Stephenie, did the inspiration come from your dreams or from your roommate? And will the shooting of the film continue? Stay tuned...

Third "Da Vinci Code" Film Announced! Yeah, That Quick!

We won't be able to see the sequel "Angels & Demons" until May 15, but Columbia Pictures is already planning the third film in "The Da Vinci Code" franchise!

Dan Brown, author of the first two novels, announced that his third installment of the "Da Vinci Code" series is going to be called "The Lost Symbol" and will be published by Doubleday on September 15, 2009.

No word yet on the plot of the book, or if Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard are attached to the project. But really, making a "Da Vinci" code film without those two is quite pointless now, isn't it?

Move Over Miley, Zac Efron is New Tween Box-Office Fave! "17 Again" Rules!

Zac Efron's "17 Again" unseats Miley Cyrus' "Hannah Montana the Movie" as the weekend's box-office champ! "17 Again" made $24.1 million, making it the No. 1 film in North America! Meanwhile, "Hannah Montana" fell to No. 4 with $12.7 million.

Efron joins the likes of Kevin James ("Paul Blart: Mall Cop"), Liam Neeson ("Taken"), Tyler Perry ("Madea Goes to Jail"), and Cyrus in changing the rules in Hollywood on who should take the box-office crown.

Meanwhile, Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck must settle for No. 2. Their flick, "State of Play," took in $14.1 million. But apparently, Universal Pictures is happy with its modest outcome.

Another new release, Lionsgate's actioner, "Crank: High Voltage" failed to match "Fast & Furious'" stellar box-office power. The Jason Statham sequel only made $6.5 million debuting at No. 6.

Sean "Diddy" Combs to Star in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" spinoff! Really?

This may sound like an April fool's joke, but the folks behind "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" just hired producer/rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs to appear in the spinoff to the comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."

Producer Judd Apatow and director Nicholas Stoller are titling the spinoff, "Get Him to the Greek" and will co-star "Marshall's" scene-stealer Russell Brand. Elisabeth Moss, Rose Byrne, and Jonah Hill are also set to co-star.

I've never looked at Combs as a comedian, nor a good actor (except for his turn in 2001's "Monster's Ball"), so I was scratching my head. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is going to be about:

In the film, Combs plays the role of "Sergio," an executive who owns a record label. Moss will play Daphne Binks, the girlfriend of Aaron Greenberg (played by Hill), while Brand plays an out-of-control rocker named Aldous Snow. Byrne will play Jackie Q, a scandal-ridden pop star and Snow's character's newest love interest.

Oh, so Combs is going to play a record label executive! What a stretch :happy

"Get Him to the Greek" is scheduled to be released April 2010.
