"The Nye Incidents" -- From Comic Book to Big-Screen

Dark Castle, the Warner Bros.-based horror label, is going to adapt the graphic novel "The Nye Incidents" from horror author Whitley Strieber.

The novelist is best known for "The Wolfen" and "The Hunger." Both were adapted into films.

"The Nye Incidents" is supposedly based on true events about a medical examiner who's been hunting down the killer of alien abductees.

Todd Lincoln is set to direct. But, there's no script yet. As we said before, it all begins with the written word.

Comedian Demetri Martin, Baseball Players Join Brad Pitt in "Moneyball"

As we told you in February, Director Steven Soderbergh and Brad Pitt are teaming up once again for "Moneyball." It's the adaptation of the Michael Lewis book "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game."

Now, the director/actor duo have found a co-star in Demetri Martin, from Comedy Central's "Important Things with Demetri Martin."

Former Oakland A's team members David Justice and Scott Hatteberg will play themselves in the film. Daryl Strawberry and Lenny Dykstra will also be seen on camera being interviewed.

According to Variety, Martin will play Paul De Podesta, a Harvard grad who turned down Wall Street jobs to use his statistical skills to change baseball scouting tactics. His system, known as "Earned Run Value," allowed Beane to evaluate valuable players he could hire at low cost.

Before "Moneyball" though, Martin will be first seen in the Ang Lee-directed flick, "Taking Woodstock" for Focus Features on August 14.

Marlon Wayans is Going to Live "Biblically"

Marlon Wayans is set to star and produce "The Year of Living Biblically" for Paramount. Based on the best-selling nonfiction book by A.J. Jacobs, the film will show Wayans attempting to live by the rules of the Old and New Testaments with comic results.

Julian Farino from HBO's "Entourage" is set to direct from the script by Jay Reiss.

If you haven't visited the author's website, do so by clicking here, it's entertaining, much like his book.

Here are some of Jacobs' musings from his site:

The Year of Living Biblically is about my quest to live the ultimate biblical life. To follow every single rule in the Bible – as literally as possible. I obey the famous ones:

* The Ten Commandments
* Love thy neighbor
* Be fruitful and multiply

But also, the hundreds of oft-ignored ones.

* Do not wear clothes of mixed fibers.
* Do not shave your beard
* Stone adulterers

Why? Well, I grew up in a very secular home (I’m officially Jewish but I’m Jewish in the same way the Olive Garden is an Italian restaurant). I’d always assumed religion would just wither away and we’d live in a neo-Enlightenment world. I was, of course, spectacularly wrong. So was I missing something essential to being a human? Or was half the world deluded?

OH NO! "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in Jeopardy! Author Stephenie Meyer Accused of Plagiarism!

The sequel, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is currently being shot in Canada BUT it has been thrown into jeopardy! Author Stephenie Meyer is facing a plagiarism lawsuit over the vampire series! Yikes!

Summit Entertainment, help and save your super-popular franchise!

Wait it gets better, here's the rest of the article from WENN:

But production on the second film has reportedly been halted following claims Meyer is facing legal action from her former college roommate, who is said to have accused the writer of basing the novels on her ideas.

Heidi Stanton - who studied alongside Meyer at Brigham Young University, Utah - claims the vampire books are similar to a short story she wrote when she was a student there.

Stanton filed her lawsuit against Meyer in Utah last Tuesday, alleging idea infringement.

She states in the papers, "Quite frankly, I was shocked when I began watching the movie with my husband last week. I immediately told him that she got that idea from me! I wrote a fictional short story with the same ideas when we were in college together."

Meyer claims the premise for the popular series came to her in a dream in June 2003 and she completed the first novel three months later.

And the legal battle has reportedly cast doubt on the highly-anticipated New Moon, with production being "put on hold" until the case is resolved, according to the website.

New Moon is scheduled for release at the end of the year.

*** So what is it Miss Stephenie, did the inspiration come from your dreams or from your roommate? And will the shooting of the film continue? Stay tuned...

Third "Da Vinci Code" Film Announced! Yeah, That Quick!

We won't be able to see the sequel "Angels & Demons" until May 15, but Columbia Pictures is already planning the third film in "The Da Vinci Code" franchise!

Dan Brown, author of the first two novels, announced that his third installment of the "Da Vinci Code" series is going to be called "The Lost Symbol" and will be published by Doubleday on September 15, 2009.

No word yet on the plot of the book, or if Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard are attached to the project. But really, making a "Da Vinci" code film without those two is quite pointless now, isn't it?
