"30 Days of Night" Director to Helm Third "Twilight" Film "Eclipse"

First we heard the third "Twilight" film is going to be directed by Drew Barrymore, then Juan Antonio Bayona (my choice, if you ask me). Now, it's official, David Slade is going to direct "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

Summit Entertainment made it official, and they've always chosen a different director per film (Catherine Hardwicke directed "Twilight," Chris Weitz is currently helming "New Moon").

I think the third film is the more dramatic of the bunch where Bella (Kristen Stewart) must choose between Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner).

You can see all the drama when "Eclipse" is released June 30, 2010.

Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote the first two films, is penning the third. Characters Miss Melissa, characters please? My biggest complain about the first film is its poor character development.

But Slade may be a wise choice. I love "Hard Candy" (if you guys haven't seen this yet, go check it out -- female teenage angst at its finest!), and "30 Days of Night" is fast becoming a cult hit with its constant cable showing (the mood! the atmosphere!), so I think Slade will do a great job!

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Karate Chops Back to the Big Screen

Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael are making their way back to the big screen! This time, the focus will be their origins, including their master Splinter.

The Mirage Group is planning to release the film in 2011.

I grew up with this franchise, and I have a soft spot for the Turtles. So this is a welcomed news.

"TMNT" released in 2007 was just okay, but I think going back to their origins can make the characters more interesting.

By the way, the Turtles are celebrating their 25th anniversary which kicks off Thursday at the Tribeca Film Festival where the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" will be unspooled.

Vanessa Hudgens to Star in "Beauty and the Beast" Retelling. No, This is NOT Disney!

"High School Musical's" Vanessa Hudgens is set to star in "Beastly." Based on the fantasy novel by Alex Flinn, it's a re-imagining of "Beauty and the Beast" set in modern-day New York!

CBS Films is behind the project to be written and directed by Daniel Barnz ("Phoebe in Wonderland").

Angelina Jolie to Star as Patricia Cornwell's Dr. Kay Scarpetta?

Angelina Jolie teams up with FOX 2000 and author Patricia Cornwell. The studio is hoping to develop Cornwell's Dr. Kay Scarpetta book series for the actress.

This is a great business marriage! One of the world's biggest female stars working with one of the world's biggest female writers!

But the road to finding Scarpetta was long and arduous. At one point, Demi Moore was attached to star. Only when Jolie met with the author and agreed on the creative direction did the project find its spark!

The Scarpetta project will be much like the Jason Bourne series. Right now, there's no writer attached to the production but Jolie and company are choosing one very soon.
