Bryan Cranston in Talks to Wear "Crowne" with Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks

As we told you last January, Tom Hanks co-wrote and will direct the film "Larry Crowne" and he'll team up with his "Charlie Wilson's War" co-star Julia Roberts.

Back in January, all we knew was the film is going to be about "a middle-aged man being forced to find a new career." We now know more about the film.

First, "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston is in final negotiations to co-star. The dramedy is being financed by Vendome and will be distributed by Universal. And Hanks co-wrote the script with Nia Vardalos. The actor produced her mega-hit "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that "the story centers on the title character (Hanks), who is downsized from his job and decides to start over by enrolling in college. There he forms some unexpected bonds with fellow students while also catching the eye of a professor (Roberts)."

Aw, it's one of those mature coming-of-age stories. Cranston will star as Roberts' husband, a blogger and an online porn addict. HA!

Production will begin shooting in Los Angeles this month.

Another Leonardo DiCaprio News -- This Time, He's "Travis McGee"

This DiCaprio dude is one busy actor! Yesterday, we said he's in talks to star as J. Edgar Hoover for director Clint Eastwood, today, he's attached to play "Travis McGee" for Oliver Stone who's negotiating to helm the project for Fox.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "McGee is the shaggy hero of 21 detective novels written by John D. MacDonald and could provide fodder for another Fox franchise. The movie will be based on the first book in the series, “The Deep Blue Good-by,” published in 1964. The novel tracks the Florida-based “salvage consultant” as he reluctantly leaves his houseboat to go in search of a treasure hidden by a soldier after World War II."

"The Deep Blue Good-by" paints its hero as a non-conformist, boat bum, knight in slightly tarnished armor as he sets out on a wild journey through the wreckage of a woman's soul. Eloquent!

The script have been written by Dana Stevens (“City of Angels”) and Kario Salem (”The Score”). More than likely, this will be Stone's next project after the release of his "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" also from Fox.

Hot New Trailer! Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in "Knight and Day"

It's finally here, the long-awaited pairing of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz who showed great chemistry in 2001's "Vanilla Sky."

This looks like an interesting film, directed by James Mangold (from "Walk the Line" to "3:10 to Yuma," he's a great storyteller in my book). BUT, this film has been rewritten soooooooo many times (look at the credits below) that it's not a good sign. Hopefully, Mangold and company were able to straighten the script prior to shooting. We'll see...

So what is the movie all about? According to Yahoo Movies:

A wholesome, Midwestern woman accidentally gets involved with an international super spy and is forced to flee the country with him while he protects a dangerous new piece of technology.

Twentieth Century FOX is releasing this film on July 2nd, to brighten up your 4th of July weekend :happy

Can You Picture Leonardo DiCaprio as J. Edgar Hoover?

As we told you last month, J. Edgar Hoover's life will get the Clint Eastwood treatment in a new project being developed by Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment.

"Milk" screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black, has written the script that follows Hoover’s career, from the founding of the FBI in 1935 to his long tenure as director of the crime-fighting organization that lasted until 1972 when he died.

Now, EW.com is reporting DiCaprio has met with Eastwood on the project.

“It sounds interesting to say the least,” DiCaprio confirmed to EW.com. “There’s no contract, no anything, but I’m a huge fan of Clint’s.”

Does that sound like the actor will agree to work with Eastwood? You betcha! But the big question -- can DiCaprio wear women's clothes with avant garde flair like Hoover? :wink

David Fincher Wants "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is a 2009 Swedish film directed by Niels Arden Oplev and is based on the bestselling novel by the late Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson. Now, David Fincher wants to adapt the film which is currently being shown in the U.S.

Here's what the movie is about from Music Box Films:

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her beloved uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) and the tattooed and troubled but resourceful computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vanger's are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

Author Stieg Larsson, who died suddenly in 2004, left behind three unpublished novels, known as the "Millennium" trilogy, which have become a global sensation, elevating Larsson to the world's second best-selling author last year (behind "The Kite Runner"'s Khaled Hosseini). "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is one of the decade's major literary success stories, selling over 8,000,000 copies worldwide and the film adaptation is the highest grossing Swedish film in history. --© Music Box Films

Isn't that intriguing?

ThePlaylist.com has confirmed "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" is definitely Fincher's next film. Steve Zaillian ("Schindler's List," "American Gangster") is currently writing the script. Shooting is set to begin in September or October.

Right now, there's no word on casting yet, although Academy Award-nominee Carey Mulligan ("An Education") is being rumored to play the part of Lisbeth Salander.
