Ryan Reynolds Passionate About "R.I.P.D.?"

I'm hearing that Ryan Reynolds is really, really passionate about making "R.I.P.D." Short for the Rest In Peace Department, the film, based on Peter Lenkov's Dark Horse graphic novel, features two dead cops, one recently deceased (Reynolds) and the other died centuries ago.

Adapted by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, Universal Pictures is currently in search of a new director (David Dobkin was previously attached but scheduling problems prevented the helmer to work on the film) and a star to play alongside Reynolds. Apparently, the studio wants a funny man to co-star.

Winona Ryder Gets Her Groove Back by Cheating!

As we told you in January, Ron Howard was set to direct Vince Vaughn in a comedy about cheating from Universal Pictures! The film, previously called "Cheaters," is getting ready to go on production in Chicago in May with Kevin James, and now, EW.com is reporting, Winona Ryder just landed the plum female lead!

Ryder beat out a slew of other actresses to land the role of Geneva, James' wife. The actress outshone the likes of Kate Beckinsale, Carla Gugino, and Uma Thurman. Go Winona!

I've always thought that Ryder is a great actress who just happened to fall from grace because of her shoplifting ways. That incident happened a long time ago, and it's about damn time that Ryder gets her groove back.

So why is the role so coveted? EW.com revealed that the movie written by Allan Loeb, "centers on two best friends, played by James and Vaughn. When Vaughn’s character discovers that James’ wife (Ryder) has cheated on his best friend, he confronts her directly and must decide whether or not he will tell his friend. (Thus, the film often pits Ryder’s character opposite Vaughn’s.)"

I can already see sparks fly between Ryder, Vaughn, and James. Plus, Howard hasn't directed a comedy since 1999's "EdTV" so I'm curious to see if he can still make a funny film.

"Tron Legacy" Sequel...Already?

Disney is so confident that you will like, um, love "Tron Legacy" in December that the studio is putting its sequel on the fast track according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Lost" writers/executive producers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who worked on "Legacy" have begun writing a sequel.

THR revealed that:

No deals have been made with “Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski or cast members to return, though options were placed in the original deals, and Disney surely would hope to reunite all the elements if “Legacy” proves to be a hit. Also needing to be figured out is who would produce a sequel. Sean Bailey, a producer on “Legacy,” is now Disney’s president of production.

Insiders are saying that Kitsis and Horowitz are working on a trilogy!

Get Ready for "Fright Night" Remake! Anton Yelchin in Talks, "Lars and the Real Girl" Director to Helm

Anton Yelchin portrayed Chekov in "Star Trek" and starred as Kyle Reese in "Terminator Salvation," now, the actor is in negotiations to play Charlie Brewster in "Fright Night," DreamWorks' remake of the 1985 vampire movie.

Craig Gillespie, the guy who gave us "Lars and the Real Girl," is directing the new version. "Lars" talks about a guy who believes his sex doll is a real girl, while "Fright Night" revolves around a teen who's convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire, but no one will believe him.

Gillespie will be directing from a script written by Marti Noxon who's familiar with exploring the vampire territory having produced and written episodes for the fantastic "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV show.

For now, let's look at the original "Fright Night" trailer and imagine Yelchin playing the Brewster character which was originally played by William Ragsdale. Oh yeah, and who will replace the late, great Roddy McDowall?
