"The Crazies" Director to Helm "Escape From New York" Remake!

Breck Eisner, the guy who gave us "The Crazies" is in talks to remake "Escape From New York" for New Line according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Once upon a time, Gerard Butler was attached to star as, gasp, Snake Plissken (How could they!), but he dropped out. Then the remake went through development hell, replacing writers and directors.

Now, THR is saying that Eisner's entrance into the project should bring "Escape" back on track and New Line is sticking to the script written by Allan Loeb.

Loeb's draft ambitiously tries to mix an origin story for Plissken and the story we know from the 1981 version directed by John Carpenter.

I enjoyed "The Crazies," so hiring Eisner may be a good sign, but then, he also directed the much-maligned "Sahara."

Personally, I'd rather see Kurt Russell in another Plissken role, where he's escaping from somewhere else, maybe "Escape From Earth" or "Escape From Indiana" or anything as long as the film involves Russell as Plissken again.

I'm sure he's Plissken to millions of "Escape" fans!

"Green Hornet" Pushed AGAIN! Film Gets January Dumping Ground Date!

Uh-oh...this is not a good sign. The much beleaguered "The Green Hornet" has its release date pushed again! Now, you can see Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet on January 14, 2011 -- Just FYI, January is considered THE dumping ground for bad films!

But Sony is saying that the Michel Gondry directed film co-starring Cameron Diaz, Christoph Waltz, and Jay Chou as the sidekick Kato, has been pushed back so they can have more time to improve its 3D quality.

Should we believe the studio?

So Long Meryl Streep, Hello Helen Mirren? The Queen in Talks for "Arthur" Remake!

So, we now all know that Russell Brand is going to channel Dudley Moore in a brand new version of "Arthur." (Read our original story about the "Arthur" remake right here)

Then, back in February, we heard rumors that Meryl Streep was in talks to star as Arthur's foil -- the great John Gielgud was the foil in the original as Arthur's valet. (Check out our Meryl Streep rumor right here)

Apparently, the supposed talks between Streep and the producers were just that...talks, because now, Helen Mirren, the Queen herself, is in negotiations to star opposite Brand according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Let's face it, Gielgud's Academy Award-winning performance is hard to beat, but honestly, either Streep or Mirren could give the part its much needed heart. So if the original was a valet, and of course, a man, the new role is reconstructed to be played by a woman as Arthur's nanny. Perfect!

Production is set to begin shooting in New York in July.
