"Iron Man 3" Rules World, "Pain & Gain" Muscles Domestic Box-Office Glory

It's all muscles and testosterone at worldwide box-office. "Iron Man 3" proved to be a healthy franchise with a massive overseas debut of $195.3 million! Back in the U.S., "Pain & Gain" took the top spot with a $20 million opening.

Starring Robert Downey Jr. as our favorite metallic superhero, "Iron Man 3" is set to conquer the U.S. box-office this coming weekend. Which meant that Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg of "Pain & Gain" must bow out of the top.

"Iron Man 3" was colossal that it even beat Marvel's "The Avengers" which opened the same weekend last year with $185.1 million.

Previous domestic box-office winner, "Oblivion" starring Tom Cruise, fell to No. 2 with $17.4 million with a total of $64.7 million.

At No. 3 was the Jackie Robinson drama, "42," starring Harrison Ford with $10.7 million. Debuting at No. 4 was Lionsgate's nuptial comedy, "The Big Wedding." The ensemble cast headed by Robert De Niro, Robin Williams, and Katherine Heigl flopped with just $7.5 million.

Rounding out the Top 5 was the animated flick "The Croods" with $6.6 million. Here's the estimated Top 10 box-office films for weekend of April 26:

1. "Pain & Gain," $20 million.

Johnny Depp to Play the Big, Bad Wolf in Movie Version of "Into the Woods"

Say what you will about Johnny Depp's singing prowess in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," but the actor may be back on the big screen with another musical role! This time it's the sexy and very hungry Wolf in the movie version of "Into the Woods."

THR is reporting that the actor is in talks to star in Disney's film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical for his "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" director, Rob Marshall, who also helmed the Oscar-winning "Chicago" and "Nine" and the 1999 TV movie, "Annie."

Depp will be joining the fantastic Meryl Streep who is set to play the vain but very charismatic Witch. "Into the Woods" is a dark "Shrek" if you may, a hodge podge of classic fairy tales that feature a childless couple, Baker and his wife, who must go into the woods to lift a family curse. Along the way, they encounter Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood.

The screenplay is written by James Lapine based on his book for the 1986 musical. Stephen Sondheim composed the Tony-winning original score with David Krane working on the music arrangement for the movie.

For now, have a taste of "Into the Woods" with this video and we'll see you happily ever after:

"Wild Things" Sequel Inspired By Amanda Knox Murder Case?

Remember the 1998 thriller "Wild Things?" The flop that became a cult hit thanks largely to all the salacious goodness of three-way sex scenes, girl-on-girl action, and Kevin Bacon's bacon.

According to our friends at Huffington Post, "Wild Things" could get a sequel and it will be inspired by the Amanda Knox Murder trial. The original movie starred Neve Campbell, Denise Richards, Matt Dillon, Bill Murray, and Bacon told the story of a high school guidance counselor accused of rape by two female students.

Now, director John McNaughton, the guy who gave us the original "Wild Things," told Hollywood.com that this will not be a sequel per se but will focus on the original characters' children by way of Amanda Knox.

McNaughton further revealed that, "Something that's like the child of Suzie Toller [Campbell's character], she claimed that Matt Dillon's [character] had raped her a long time ago and maybe there is a child and maybe Bill Murray's character had a child and they're exchange students and things get out of hand. We're calling it 'Wild Child Things.'"

There is no studio attached to the project yet but according to McNaughton, screenwriter Steven Peters' manager sent him an email and a one-page outline.

We'll see if the original cast will return and more importantly, if Bacon's schlong makes another appearance.

Will Matthew McConaughey Finally Win an Oscar for This Role?

I love Focus Features, the indie studio who values storytelling over big-budgeted films. And I'm loving Matthew McConaughey lately especially with his scene-stealing turns in last year's "Magic Mike" and "Killer Joe." So I was pleasantly surprised that Focus has purchased "Dallas Buyers Club" starring McConaughey as Ron Woodruff, an '80s-era AIDS patient who started a "buyers club" for HIV-positive folks needing medication. The true-to-life film also stars Jennifer Garner as Woodruff's doctor and actor turned rockstar, Jared Leto, as a cross-dressing AIDS patient (perfect role right?). Jean-Marc VallVallée, the guy who gave us "The Young Victoria," directed the film from the original screenplay by Craig Borten and Melissa Wallack.

"Dallas Buyers Club" will be released during the second half of 2013, yup, the awards season!

Here's the full press release from Focus:

NEW YORK, April 23rd, 2013 - Dallas Buyers Club, currently in post-production, has been acquired by Focus Features for domestic theatrical release in the second half of 2013. The company has also acquired Latin American rights to the feature. Focus CEO James Schamus and Focus president Andrew Karpen made the announcement today.

A Truth Entertainment production, Dallas Buyers Club is produced by Robbie Brenner and Rachel Winter. Spirit Award winner Matthew McConaughey stars in the fact-based drama for director Jean-Marc Vallée (The Young Victoria). The film's original screenplay is by Craig Borten and Melissa Wallack.

In Dallas Buyers Club, Mr. McConaughey portrays real-life Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, an ordinary man who found himself in a life-or-death battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies. In 1986, Ron was blindsided by being diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. With the U.S. still internally divided over how to combat the virus and restricting medications, Ron grabbed hold of non-toxic alternative treatments from all over the world by means both legal and illegal. Seeking to avoid government sanctions against selling non-approved medicines and supplements, he established a "buyers club," which fellow HIV-positive people could join for access to his supplies.

The cast of Dallas Buyers Club also includes Gotham Independent Film Award winner Jared Leto and Golden Globe Award winner Jennifer Garner. The movie's executive producers are Truth Entertainment's Tony Notargiacomo and Joe Newcomb; Nicholas Chartier; Cassian Elwes; Logan Levy; Nathan Ross; and Holly Wiersma.

Mr. Schamus and Mr. Karpen commented, "Matthew McConaughey is an actor at the top of his game, and he incarnates Ron Woodroof by showing how his self-interest was galvanized into something much more. Audiences will want to take this journey with him, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Garner, as guided by their dynamic director Jean-Marc Vallée."

Mr. Vallée said, "I'm extremely pleased that we are partnered with Focus Features. They have a long and successful history of sharing memorable stories. Ron Woodroof's story is one of an imperfect man and his fight for survival, during a confused and desperate time. We all believe that this film had to finally be made, and we are all grateful and privileged to be part of this project."
