Yours truly has a TV page now! My friends at Film Annex contacted me and offered a really, cool page that will house all my interviews and reviews.

Of course I said yes!

It's a fun page, strictly for my reviews and interviews, so you guys should check it out!

Click here or go to http://mannythemovieguytv.com/

And here's the full press release:

New York, May 19, 2009 – Film Annex is pleased to announce it has commenced broadcasting www.MannyTheMovieGuyTV.com in collaboration with the Emmy Award-Winning film critic Manny Dela Rosa, also known as Manny the Movie Guy.

The Web TV will feature videos of Manny’s expert reviews of the latest boxoffice hits and independent films as well as his interviews with Hollywood’s biggest stars and the most successful filmmakers of today.

Created by the Film Annex technology, Manny the Movie Guy TV is a user-friendly web television with a high-quality, full-screen player and simple navigation with no necessity for registration. The interviews and reviews stream after one another just like on a regular TV Channel and are not interrupted by voting systems or other
widgets that distract the viewers.

The Web TV is currently broadcasting interviews with the stars of the latest box-office hit STAR TREK. Eric Bana, Bruce Greenwood, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin are all asked questions by Manny who also puts together a thorough review of the film with clips from his interviews and the film itself. With his unique approach, warm and humorous attitude, and thought-provoking questions, Manny stands out from other film critics and rates movies with kisses instead of stars as he explains, “Every movie deserves at least one kiss.”

Manny the Movie Guy TV will be updated regularly with new content by Manny in order to bring the latest news, reviews, and interviews regarding the most recent films playing in theaters or festivals. Manny uses every outlet of the media—TV, Radio, Print, and the Internet—to share this talent and knowledge for film. We intend to make www.MannyTheMovieGuyTV.com the ultimate destination for movie lovers as well as people from the industry.

Greek Flick 'Dogtooth' Wins Un Certain Regard at Cannes

Filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos' repression drama "Dogtooth" took the top Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes.

What's Un Certain Regard? Wikipedia says "Un Certain Regard (lit. A Certain Glance, fig. A certain outlook) is a section of the Cannes Film Festival's Official Selection. It is run at the Salle Debussy, parallel to the competition for the Palme d'Or.

This section was introduced in 1978 by Gilles Jacob. Each year, it presents a score of films with all kind of visions and styles; “original and different” works which seek international recognition."

In short, Un Certain Regard is full of cinema visionaries -- my favorite topic, folks who defy gravity!

Here's a complete list of the Un Certain Regard winners at this year's Cannes:

UN CERTAIN REGARD PRIZE
"Dogtooth," Yorgos Lanthimos (Greece)

UN CERTAIN REGARD JURY PRIZE
"Police, Adjective," Corneliu Porumboiu (Romania)

SPECIAL PRIZE UN CERTAIN REGARD 2009
"No One Knows About The Persian Cats," Bahman Ghobadi (Iran) and "Father of My Children," Mia Hansen-Love (France).

Chew on This: "Bazooka Joe" the Movie!

Michael Eisner, the former chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, and his Tornante Co. just hired Mark Hammer to write the script adaptation of "Bazooka Joe," yeah, the comic strip that comes with Bazooka bubble gum.

Bazooka, both the gum and the comic, are part of trading card company Topps'. Eisner bought the company in 2007, hence, the planned film adaptation.

I Love Cinema Retro! Check Out Their Site!

Their branding slogan says "Celebrating Films of the 1960s & 1970s" and boy, do they celebrate those great decades in cinema!

Even Sir Roger Moore says "Cinema Retro Magazine is a 'Must' For Fans of Movies From the 1960s & 1970s –And They Didn't Have to Pay Me to Say That!"

The 70s has been highly regarded as a great decade for cinema with the emergence of influential films and equally influential filmmakers. Martin Scorsese ("Taxi Driver," "Mean Streets," "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore"), Steven Spielberg (His "Jaws" changed the way we viewed Summer Movies!), Francis Ford Coppola ("The Godfather 1 and 2"), gosh, "Chinatown," "The Deer Hunter," "Kramer vs. Kramer," "Apocalypse Now" and so much more!

Besides showcasing cinema excellence, Cinema Retro also has some titillating but fun sections like Movie Hunks and Goddesses!

So check it out, it's fun, I guarantee you, and you may even stumble a little story about yours truly there :happy

Hollywood and Yours Truly Welcome Rising Actor Jon Lee Brody

Jon Lee Brody's bio says he's "a 25-year old Eurasian Actor/Producer/Writer/Director. His upcoming film may be titled 'Reborn' but it may actually mark the birth of the new Hollywood 'It Boy'."

Mister Jon contacted me and I immediately warmed up to this super-ambitious but super-nice actor. I haven't met him officially, nor seen his original work but something inside of me thinks this guy will succeed.

Plus, props that he's from the Midwest too :happy

Brody has worked in films like "Eagle Eye" and "The Dark Knight," and TV shows such as "CSI: NY." In his IMDB page, Brody's popularity is up 5% this week! Wow!

Currently, the actor is working on a film called "Reborn" a suspense thriller that's supposed to have twists and turns similar to "Bourne Identity." Click Read More for more info about the film. Plus, see what movie Brody is working on that he says "will (yes i'm saying this on the record) give "Twilight" a run for its money!!" Really? We'll see about that :happy Read More...
