"Up" Soars to Great Box-Office Heights!

"Up," one of my favorite films of the year, so far, flew high atop the box-office with a stellar $68.2 million opening! The animated adventure comedy, Disney/Pixar's 10th film, continues their box-office and critical success!

(Watch my "Up" movie review here, and my interviews with the cast and director Pete Docter right here)

"Up" stole the box-office thunder from the previous No. 1 film, "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian." The Ben Stiller-starrer slipped to No. 2 with a still strong $25.5 million.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures' horror flick, "Drag Me to Hell," debuted at No. 3 with $16.6 million. (Watch "Drag Me to Hell" interviews right here)

At No. 4, "Terminator Salvation." The fourth film of the franchise made a modest $16.1 million at the box-office.

And Trekkers rejoice! "Star Trek" is the first 2009 film to cross the magical $200 million mark! It's also the current top-grossing movie of the year so far. Woo hoo, a film that's beloved by both critics and moviegoers alike! The sci-fi flick sold $12.8 million tickets landing at No. 5.

I'm glad though that "Up," with its not-your-typical-animated-film plot, made money because Pixar will continue to break creative boundaries!

Here's the Top 10 Box-Office films for weekend of May 29th:

1. "Up," $68.2 million.

2. "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," $25.5 million.

3. "Drag Me to Hell," $16.6 million.

4. "Terminator Salvation," $16.1 million.

5. "Star Trek," $12.8 million.

6. "Angels & Demons," $11.2 million.

7. "Dance Flick," $4.9 million.

8. "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," $3.9 million.

9. "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," $1.9 million.

10. "Obsessed," $665,000.

Who's Replacing Nicole Kidman in New Woody Allen Film?

British actress Lucy Punch is replacing Nicole Kidman in the upcoming untitled Woody Allen film.

Kidman left the production because of scheduling conflict. The actress is prioritizing to star in "The Rabbit Hole" with Aaron Eckhart to be directed by John Cameron Mitchell which she's also producing.

The role Kidman gave up in Allen's film is that of a high-priced call girl similar to Ashley Dupre, the gal that brought down New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

But Kidman's "The Rabbit Hole" is also intriguing, and this is a blessing in disguise for Punch who will join Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Naomi Watts, and Freida Pinto in the Allen film that is about to shoot in London.

My Chick Flick Predictor is Broken -- "The Proposal" is Incredibly, Truly Funny!

I went into the screening of the Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds romantic comedy "The Proposal" with very low expectations. And I came out with a tummy ache from laughing my booty off.

The best part of the film is the intelligent script by Peter Chiarelli. The film's main conceit -- bitchy boss threatens her assistant to marry her for fear of deportation to her homeland of Canada -- works because of the incredibly charming actors, including the stellar supporting cast, and the rhythm of director Anne Fletcher.

Watch for Betty White (Gammy Annie) and the omnipresent Oscar Nunez as Ramone.

Sure, the film has a predictable outcome, but there are some twists and turns that will make you giggle like a blushing bride :happy

I enjoyed this film, and you will too! Watch it in theaters, don't wait until it premieres on your next flight back home.

Take a look at the super hilarious funnyordie.com clip featuring Bullock, Reynolds, and White.

Miley Cyrus to Star in "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" Remake?

"Girls Just Want to Have Fun," the 1985 comedy starring Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker, is getting a makeover!

And the film is being developed as a potential flick for Miley Cyrus!

The script is being written by Michelle Morgan.

The moves! The music! The movie! This great relic of the 80s revolves around two friends who love dancing, boys, and the hit show "Dance TV."

Take a look at the original trailer, and see if you can imagine Miley in one of the characters. The Helen Hunt character perhaps?
