Colin Farrell, Toni Collette Join "Fright Night" Remake

Colin Farrell and Toni Collette will join Anton Yelchin in DreamWorks' "Fright Night" remake of the cult 1985 flick.

Farrell is set to play the vampire Jerry, originally portrayed by Chris Sarandon. Jerry is a seemingly cool guy who's really preying on the neighborhood. Collette will play Yelchin's mom who falls under Jerry's spell.

This marks Farrell's return to big studio work after a string of memorable indie films. "Fright Night" will be released by Disney.

Craig Gillespie, the guy who gave us "Lars and the Real Girl," is directing the new version. "Lars" talks about a guy who believes his sex doll is a real girl, while "Fright Night" revolves around a teen who's convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire, but no one will believe him.

Gillespie will be directing from a script written by Marti Noxon who's familiar with exploring the vampire territory having produced and written episodes for the fantastic "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV show.

"Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" Drama! This Time, it's All About Salaries!

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively learned that "Breaking Dawn's" leads Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner will all get big raises to return for the final chapter of "Twilight." But the one thing that's holding up the production, which would be two "Breaking Dawn" films (like the last chapter of "Harry Potter) to be directed by Bill Condon, is salary disagreements with the franchise's secondary characters.

THR further revealed:

Deals for Peter Facinelli (who plays Carlisle Cullen) and Billy Burke (Bella's father, Charlie Swan) are done, but we're told the actors who play the Cullen kids (especially Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene) are trying to sink their teeth into bigger paydays that, at least at this point, the studio behind the billion-dollar franchise is unwilling to provide. "We may have a situation where one of them is thrown out on the street to make a point," says a source close to the dealmaking.

Oh no, don't throw Kellan Lutz out on the street!

Get Ready for "Judge Dredd" 3D!

As if the sight of Sylvester Stallone in the forgettable 1995 "Judge Dredd" is not enough, along came news that DNA Films, Reliance Big Entertainment, and IM Global are jointly financing a bigger, better "Judge Dredd," in 3D, of course!

The film will be directed by Pete Travis ("Vantage Point") from a script by Alex Garland ("Sunshine," "28 Days Later," author of "The Beach").

Deadline Hollywood exclusively learned that DNA's Andrew Macdonald "went back to the franchise’s DNA to completely overhaul the film and bring it back to its origins as the UK comic created by John Wagner and illustrated by Carlos Ezquerra. Dredd is set in a futuristic world filled with violence, and the character is empowered to act as judge, jury and executioner."

As I've said before, a good film begins with a good script, and Garland, so far, has a good reputation as a scriptwriter.
