Dev Patel Talks About “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" -- How He Bewitched His Co-Stars!

Dev Patel (“Slumdog Millionaire,” “The Last Airbender”) returns to the big screen in the excellent movie “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.” He plays Sonny, the owner of the Marigold Hotel. Patel proved that he has comedic chops and he gained the respect of his talented co-stars such as Dame Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, and Tom Wilkinson.

Directed by John Madden (“Shakespeare in Love,” “The Debt”), and written by Ol Parker from the book “These Foolish Things” by Deborah Moggach, “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” is currently sitting at No. 6 at the Top 10 Box-Office Films. And it’s quite miraculous that at only 300 + theaters, the film has amassed $10.2 million. Moviegoers are falling in love with the film.

In this interview, Patel and I talked about:

*** Why viewers are responding positively to the film
*** What attracted him to the character Sonny?
*** Dench has proclaimed that Dev is a “born comedian” and that the actor has bewitched the cast. How did he bewitch them?
*** Madden said Dev is a “spectacular talent” and a “comic natural.” How was it working with the director?

Have fun!

Shirley MacLaine Interview for “Bernie” -- See Why Jack Black Inspires Her

It was an honor talking to the Oscar-winning icon regarding her new role in the fantastic mystery/dramedy “Bernie.” Based on real-life story, Maclaine plays the mean, ornery, rich widow, Marjorie Nugent, who gets befriended by the town mortician, Bernie (the excellent Jack Black). And then…murder happens. Director Richard Linklater (“Dazed and Confused,” “School of Rock”) appropriate calls his film the East Texas “Fargo.”

In this interview, MacLaine and I talked about:

*** Her interest in working for “Bernie”
*** How she prepared to be an old “bitch” for the role
*** Working with Jack Black
*** Working with director Richard Linklater

HAVE FUN!

Two New "Dark Knight Rises" TV Spots You Might Have Missed During "American Idol" Season Finale!
So you were busy cheering on Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez that you might have missed two fantastic "The Dark Knight Rises" TV spots! There's really nothing new in the spots that we haven't seen in the official trailer and teaser, but, just watching these commercials excite the geek in me -- I can't freaking wait to see "The Dark Knight Rises" and to figure out how director Christopher Nolan will end this franchise that I still believe is the best of the best of the superhero genre. I can't wait to see Tom Hardy as Bane or Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and of course, to see more drama involving Christian Bale's Batman. July 20 can't come soon enough!

Here are the two new TV spots of "The Dark Knight Rises":

The first one introduces the film's overarching theme of superhero and supervillain:

The second spot is all about the big baddies -- Bane and Catwoman:

Will Robert Pattinson Star As Finnick Odair for "Hunger Games" Sequel "Catching Fire?"

A word of caution -- this is currently a rumor, but a fun rumor nonetheless. According to TotalFilm by way of ThinkMcFlyThink, Lionsgate is furiously courting the "Twilight" star to take on the role of Finnick Odair, an ex-tribute who loves the ladies and gets dragged into the Third Quarter Quell -- the best of the best of the Hunger Games featuring previous winners, hence Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) back in the ring.

So, here are the reasons why this rumor could be true:

First, Lionsgate is now the home of Summit Entertainment, the studio that "Twilight" built.

Second, "Catching Fire" will be directed by Francis Lawrence, the guy who gave us "Water for Elephants" starring Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.

Could be a possibility, perhaps exciting? Pattinson will have the privilege of starring in two teenage-driven franchises, "Twilight" as Edward Cullen, and maybe "The Hunger Games" as Finnick Odair.
