Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the directing duo who gave us the fantastic Norwegian flick, "Kon-Tiki," will be helming the fifth installment of the popular "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise according to Deadline. And they were given the stamp of approval by Disney, Johnny Depp, and uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Once a deal has been agreed upon, the directors will prepare the huge movie for a possible late year or early January production start.
This may be a good thing based on the duo's Oscar-nominated Best Foreign Language film "Kon-Tiki." If you haven't seen the film yet, take a look at the trailer of "Kon-Tiki" below. Yup, it's set in water which is a good thing if you're making a "Pirates" movie.

If you were wondering why Aragorn was not a part of "The Hobbit" film, wonder no more. Viggo Mortensen, the actor behind the man who would be king, explains why. And it's pretty simple. Because his character does not appear in the J.R.R. Tolkien novel. Duh to you!
Mortensen told "The Guardian" that before Peter Jackson and company started shooting back in 2008, one of the producers asked him if he would be interested. And he said, "You do know, don't you, that Aragorn isn't in The Hobbit? That there is a 60-year gap between the books?'"
Well, Elijah Wood's Frodo and Cate Blanchett's Galadriel made appearances in "The Hobbit" and their characters were not in the book either! Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen) was, and so the magical wizard is playing a big part in the new trilogy.
Could it be that Mortensen is just tired of playing Aragorn? Maybe?

If you're a fan of "My Little Pony" and must see a brand new movie featuring the colorific characters, well, you're in luck! There's a feature film galloping your way this June.
It's called "My Little Pony Equestria Girls" and it has something to do with Twilight Sparkle's crown. But when she searches for her stolen crown, she ends up in another world with no powers -- just another human girl in high school. Oh bummer!
So save the date! On June 15, "My Little Pony Equestria Girls" will have its premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival's "Family Day."
Here's more on the press release about "My Little Pony Equestria Girls."
The My Little Pony brand has remained deeply rooted in the value of friendship since it first launched 30 years ago. Integrating those same core values, Hasbro Studios premieres My Little Pony Equestria Girls, a new full-length feature introducing a whole new dimension into the world of My Little Pony. When a crown is stolen from the Crystal Empire, Twilight Sparkle pursues the thief into an alternate world where she transforms into a teenage girl who must survive her biggest challenge yet…high school. With help from her new friends who remind her of Ponyville’s Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, she embarks upon a quest to find the crown and change the destiny of these two parallel worlds.
Five popular Hasbro Studios properties will take over L.A. LIVE’s Nokia Plaza with an exciting lineup of activities inspired by the popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Kaijudo, Transformers Rescue Bots, Transformers Prime and Littlest Pet Shop animated programs. A day of fun for the whole family will feature character appearances, a digital gaming area, photo booth, coloring station, entertainment lounge, giveaways and more. A real fire truck and police car will be on hand for an interactive Transformers Rescue Bots experience, families will be invited to “Pony-fy” themselves to look like the stylish My Little Pony Equestria Girls characters, and the Littlest Pet Shop section will feature a balloon animals and face painting.

Wow, this "Man from U.N.C.L.E." project has already so many dramas even before production begins! But we may have a bit of a good news.
Henry Cavill aka "Man of Steel" has entered negotiations to replace Tom Cruise in "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." Guy Ritchie is set to direct and co-produce the adaptation of the 1960s TV series about the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.) and their agents who fight the evil Thrush.
Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander co-star in the Warner Bros. production. If the deal goes through, Cavill already has good working relationship with WB, the home of "Man of Steel."
I'm interviewing the actor this weekend for "Man of Steel" so I'll ask him to confirm this story, stay tuned...
