“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” Movie Review -- Do We Need Another Spidey Movie? The Answer is Clear!

Another week, another superhero movie (I know, I’m feeling oversaturated all of a sudden – Captain America last month, the X-Men folks and Spidey this month, argh!) – this time, it’s the sequel to “The Amazing Spider-Man” from the collaboration of director Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

Sally Field returns as the touching Aunt May and joining the cast are Jamie Foxx as Electro, Dane DeHaan as Green Goblin, and Paul Giamatti as Rhino. Yup, more villains! But is more always better? Check out my movie review of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

Official Plot:

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But beingSpider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp. (c) Columbia

Can't Wait to See "Godzilla!"

The 1998 "Godzilla" movie underwhelmed me, no, make that irritated me, but yet, like most of you, I have a special place in my heart for the giant lizard. So, I'm really, really looking forward to seeing the new version of "Godzilla" opening nationwide on May 16th!

This one seems promising with director Gareth Edwards at the helm. He gave us the smart "Monsters" in 2010 (if you missed it, it's now available for rent), blending politics, emotions, and alien invasions -- a main ingredient for a great "Godzilla" movie.

And this weekend, I'll be watching "Godzilla" and interviewing the cast including Bryan Cranson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and the lovely Elizabeth Olsen. Oh, and I'll be talking to Edwards too!

I can't wait! I'll give you my full report soon, but for now, watch this exclusive "Godzilla" Asia trailer, hear him roar!

“The Quiet Ones” Movie Review

“The Quiet Ones,” bearing the mark of Hammer Films, is a scary flick that features the age-old debate between science and the supernatural. Jared Harris stars as Professor Coupland, a professor who thinks he can exorcise demons using science. His subject for his experiment is Jane Harper (Olivia Cooke), a possessed young girl with deep, dark secrets. Capturing the entire experiment is Brian McNeil played by Sam Claflin (“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire).

Is “The Quiet Ones” worth your time and money? Check out my review.

Official Synopsis:

From the producer who brought you The Woman In Black and Let Me In comes the unnerving tale of The Quiet Ones. Tucked away in an estate outside of London, Professor Coupland along with a team of university students conduct an "experiment" on Jane Harper, a young girl who harbors unspeakable secrets. What dark forces they uncover are more terrifying than any of them expected. Inspired by true events, the film stars Jared Harris (Mad Men and Sherlock Homes: A Game of Shadows), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel), and is directed by John Pogue from a screenplay by Craig Rosenberg and Oren Moverman and John Pogue, and based on a screenplay by Tom de Ville. Outrageous! The Cast of "Jem and the Holograms"

If you were a child of the '80s, this news is for you! The "Jem and the Holograms" movie has been cast! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aubrey Peeples ("Nashville") will play Jem while Stefanie Scott ("A.N.T. Farm") will star as Jem's sister, Kimber. Aurora Perrineau of "Pretty Little Liars" will jam as Shana and Hayley Kiyoko of "The Fosters" will play Aja.

Jon M. Chu ("Step Up 2," "Step Up 3D," "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," the two Justin Bieber documentaries) will direct the film which is based on a popular cartoon (with an equally popular theme song, see below) and toy collection.

Blumhouse Productions and Scooter Braun Productions are teaming up for this project which is supposed to be an updated look at the show complete with social media shenanigans.

Peeples went on her own social medium via Instagram and posted the "Jem" cast picture below where she wrote "#tbt to a week ago at @scooterbraun 's going over #JemTheMovie @stefaniescott @kiyoko11 @auroraperrineau @jemthemovie."

For now, let's reminisce and watch the intro of the cartoon with the lovably ingratiating theme song, it's truly outrageous!
