The American Film Institute released its latest Top 10 countdown, this time it's about the 10 classic films within a certain classic genre.

Take a look at their number 1's per genre:

GEORGE LUCAS NOT DIRECTING TUSKEGEE AIRMEN FILM!!! 


UPDATE: THE AP REPORTED YESTERDAY, GEORGE LUCAS IS DIRECTING, BUT ACCORDING TO NEW REPORTS, HE IS NOT HELMING THE FILM ABOUT TUSKEGEE AIRMEN. READ THIS ARTICLE.

I've always known Mister George Lucas has a heart of a gifted storyteller. It's just that recently, his gift has been overshadowed by his super-popular subjects such as "Star Wars"s and "Indiana Jones."

So when I heard that Lucas is going to do a historical film about the brave Tuskegee Airmen, I was elated!

The film has a working title of "Red Tails."

SPIKE LEE SET TO "TIME TRAVEL" 


First he had a word fight with Clint Eastwood, now, Mister Spike Lee is set to adapt the memoir "Time Traveler."

It's actually pretty interesting.

Author Ronald Mallett, one of the nation's first African Americans to earn a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics, was obsessed with the concept of time traveling, and believed he had the technical wherewithal to build a workable time machine!

OBITUARY: THE LEGENDARY CYD CHARISSE DIES AT 86 


Miss Cyd gave such memorable performances in "Singin' in the Rain" and various MGM musical classics, but the perennial dance partner of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly passed away Tuesday in Los Angeles.

My, my, I've been hearing of death and destruction lately!

THE 2008 MAUI FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FESTIVAL WINNERS 


Under the light of a full moon, the 2008 Annual Maui Film Festival at Wailea came to a successful close. Now in its ninth year, the event held from June 11-15, 2008 continues to grow, proving that big things can come from a little island.

More than 20,000 people attended this year’s Maui Film Festival at Wailea and voted on their favorite films. The scenic views of Maui served as a backdrop to some of the best American independent films and world cinema. The Festival also featured cultural events, tributes and filmmakers panels.
