"The Proposal" Movie Review -- How Many Kisses Does Sandra Bullock Get?

In “The Proposal,” Sandra Bullock returns to the genre that she does best – romantic comedy. But the actress politely corrected me when I interviewed her for “The Proposal.” She said the film is not a romantic comedy, “just a comedy period.”

Bullock says, “It drives me insane when movies are called romantic comedies when most of them are neither romantic nor funny. ‘The Proposal’ is a funny comedy.” She’s absolutely right about that last statement. The film is very funny indeed.

Directed by ex-choreographer Anne Fletcher, “The Proposal” has an infectious rhythm that will keep your interest all the way up to the predictable ending. Sure, the film is formulaic but at least the filmmakers have the winning formula down pat. The movie made me giggle like a blushing bride. Read More...

Bummer! Sean Penn Says No to "Three Stooges" Among Others!

Sean Penn has pulled out of two films, including "The Three Stooges," citing personal reasons.

The actor who's been having marital dramas with Robin Wright Penn is taking an undetermined sabbatical affecting yet-to-be-filmed movies that he's already attached to.

One of those films is Universal's "Cartel" about a man who vows to protect his son after his wife is murdered by Mexican cartels. Peter Craig wrote the script, and Asger Leth is set to direct. Hhhmmmm, can I suggest Liam Neeson to the role? This fits him perfectly!

But the one I'm really bummed about is the MGM comedy "The Three Stooges" from the Farrelly Brothers. Penn was set to co-star as Larry alongside Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. Perfect casting right? It would have been a dream cast!

(Check the full story of "The Three Stooges" casting right here)

Right now, it's unclear whether MGM will recast the Larry role, or wait for Penn's return from his sabbatical leave.

But so far, the actor has completed the following films:

*** "Fair Game" -- Doug Liman directs and Naomi Watts co-stars in this drama about CIA agent Valerie Plame.

*** "Tree of Life" -- Terrence Malick directs and Brad Pitt co-stars.

Both movies will be released next year.

Penn is also in talks to star in "This Must Be the Place" to be directed by Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino making his English-language debut. Even though financing and scheduling are not yet finished, Penn is still intending to make this movie...when he returns from his absence.

Clearly, the actor needs time to focus on his family, so more power to him! Just don't disappear for long 'cause you will be missed Mister Sean!

Rumor Alert: Is Michael Sheen Going to Star as Bond Big Bad Ernst Stavro Blofeld?

We all have heard of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the evil genius and James Bond's ultimate nemesis. Heck, even Mike Myers imitated him as Dr. Evil in the "Austin Powers" films.

Blofeld is the head of the global criminal organization SPECTRE with dreams of, you guessed it, WORLD DOMINATION!

With the last Bond film, "Quantum of Solace" dealing with SPECTRE, it's just a logical next step to reboot the Blofeld character previously played by the likes of Max Von Sydow, Telly Savalas, John Hollis, Charles Gray, Anthony Dawson, and Donald Pleasance (pictured n character above).

Now, I'm hearing through the grapevine that Michael Sheen may be playing the Blofeld character in the upcoming Bond film with Daniel Craig reprising his role as the British super spy! This makes sense with Peter Morgan attached to co-write the script. Morgan has previously worked with Sheen in "The Queen" and "Frost/Nixon."

Here's an excerpt from a WENN article about Sheen's participation:

The Queen star is said to be in negotiations with 007 bosses to join Daniel Craig in the 23rd instalment in the superspy franchise, which is slated for release in 2011.

And Sheen will be taking on the role of bad guy Blofeld - the recurring character seen in six Bond films including From Russia with Love, You Only Live Twice and For Your Eyes Only.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "Michael is hot property right now and it's felt he's the right man to bring Blofeld back to life. Michael was a Bond fan in his youth so this would be a dream role for him."

But a far better question though is, will they bring the cat back? We want that nasty feline!

Take a look at Savalas as Blofeld in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" trailer:

Female Power Adorns Disney's Upcoming Comedy "You Again"

Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Chenoweth, and Betty White have joined Kristen Bell and Sigourney Weaver in the upcoming Disney comedy "You Again" to be directed by Andy Fickman.

Odette Yustman and Victor Garber also joined the cast.

The plot tells the tale of a woman (Bell) who's afraid that her brother is about to marry a girl who's not what she pretends to be. Apparently, the girl made Bell's character miserable in high school. So she's not really nice bro!

Bell's parents will be played by Curtis and Garber, and the super-adorable White will play her grandma. Meanwhile, Weaver will star as her rich aunt Ramona, Chenoweth will be the wedding planner, and Yustman will be Bell's nemesis.

Fickman is also producing from a script by Moe Jelline.

You go girls!

Natalie Portman to Star in Supernatural Thriller From "The Wrestler's" Darren Aronofsky

Natalie Portman is attached to star in the supernatural thriller "Black Swan" from director Darren Aronofsky ("The Wrestler").

The film is set in the world of New York City ballet about a ballerina (Portman) who's competing with a rival dancer. But is the rival a ghost or is Portman's character just having a mental breakdown?

Many folks who have read the script compares the "Black Swan" to "The Others." Hhhhmmmm, intriguing! John McLaughlin's original script has since been rewritten by Mark Heyman.

There's no studio attached to the project yet, but with Portman and Aronofsky on board, I heard many Hollywood players are now interested.
